Hardest racing game I ever play. Dirt Rally 2 is mario cart compared to this
one. Losing control of your car is incredibly easy! Game would be a lot better
if car got 2x better traction. There's only 2 very repetitive areas. Shame
there's no 100% asphalt track. From this small fragments of asphalts it was very
cool to drive.
But I must say the sky road is incredibly climatic. Worth to buy with 75% promo
and you like driving challenges.
Work pretty decent with steering wheel (g29).

This is abandonware with almost zero content and rather bad racing.
As other have mentioned, the driving physics seem quite good, but the racing
still feels terrible because of the cars. Content-wise there is 1 car, no option
to tune/configure it in any way, 2 tracks, no AI, no career, and no multiplayer.
The only thing to do is time trial, and 'Challenges', which means you drive
short sections of the 2 tracks in isolation in time trial mode, and you can
reach 3 different medals for 3 pre-defined times you have to beat. It took me 77
minutes to play all of them and achieve at least the bronze medal.
What's worse is that it was not even fun. Why not? you ask, if the physics are
great? Well, the cars suck. They suffer from brutal under steering and they
start slinging around very easily in tiny puddles. They drive like 4WD cars with
the differential locked. With more suspension, they would maybe be fun for rock
crawling, but for gravel racing they are absolutely terrible. The tracks are
really not that hard or special and today's rally cars would eat them for
breakfast, but with these cars they become really, really hard. And sadly in a
bad way. Not because of realistic physics, but because of bad cars.
I would have kept this for my collection of racing games just for the beautiful
graphics and the physics if it had at least 3 cars (one 4WD, one FWD, one RWD),
5 tracks, an option to tune cars (configure brake balance, suspension, tow
in/out, ... like in Dirt 2 Rally), and mod support. I do not require a career,
even though at least one of AI (preferred) or multiplayer would be nice. But
with all of that missing, I cannot recommend this to anyone.

I was wondering how this game had so many positive reviews so I bought the game
because it looked good.
Oh what a mistake this was...how can you charge 30 euros for this game?! You
only have a few maps which seem to be added over time since it's early access,
but come on...the value you get for this game is so low if you compare to other
great games that are under 30 euros...
The car handling is tough, challenging and drifting feels cool when you nail it
right...but that's it. That's the lowest amount of entertainment you can get,
that and the challenging maps and time missions...
What you have here is an alright handling of a car in challenging
missions...that is pretty much it. 30 EUROS? Please, do not get this game for
that much, there is so much better games out there that ask for less and offers
so much fucking more. If competition is your thing, sure...get the game and try
to beat the guy in number 1 worldwide but right now you are given a spot in the
top when finishing a level, you don't actually see the leaderboard. Just play
the demo and see for yourself what you're in for, because that's pretty much all
that you're given...just not worth it.

Bought the game. It is an Interesting concept of an Offroad Game but becomes
boring very quickly. This game does not offer much for your money in current
state. No multi player (because there is nobody online to play with) and no AI
implemented to race with. Only Trackmania style challenges and solo time trails.
Development (regarding to the boards here on Steam) seems to be halted/stoped.
What a pitty but I requested a refund.

Edit: I feel like I spent too much money on an abandoned game. When I first
bought this game, the developers were very active and talked to the community
about their plans. They created a roadmap with lots of exciting features, such
as a map editor.
However, ever since the acquisition by iRacing, they've been mostly silent and
there have been no updates besides bugfixes. iRacing wrote a very vague
statement about their plans and promised to tell us more in a few months, but
it's been more than half a year since this was posted. When asked if the game is
abandoned, the developers refuse to speak and just refer to this vague post from
iRacing.
I will change my review back if they live up to what they promised on their
roadmap. But right now this feels like a scam.
Original review:
Very fun game so far! Looking forward to the future of this game, it's already
looking very promising, it combines the best of arcade racing games like
Trackamania and simracers like DiRT.
Bonus points for first class Linux support!

A great little (frustrating) game that you can never get right until 3 AM with a
move you can never replicate. it feels so good to sleep after one of those runs

I really like the way the driving works and the way the game looks, but there
are barely any levels and you can't explore the scenery. Gonna come back to it
in a few months when there are more tracks and just content in general. I don't
think the game is worth more than $15 right now.

Early Access Review:
Game has no particular background story - its a mix of racing in futuristic
environment with off road cars which remind me very old titles like POD,
Powerslide or newer game - GRIP. The main goal of the game is of course to be
the fastest but the key to reach lowest possible times, is to master physics and
car handling. At the start you can feel frustrated because car feel oversteery,
has no grip at all and spins around like on ice. However after playing demo
version for few hours I have learned that weight balance of the car that change
under acceleration or braking has significant effect on grip and handling.
Graphics are beautiful, FPS are stable. Sound is quite good. I love synthwave
music so it fits my teste however I turn if off not to be distracted by other
sounds that those generated by car.
You can choose from 3 modes: time trial, challanges or multiplayer racing. To
unlock cars and other tracks you need to complete challanges which may feel
impossible to complete at first. Once you master the car it will be easier.
Fortunately to unlock other racing environments (which are 3 at this moment and
each track is getting harder) its enough to reach 3rd place.
Multiplayer is stable but for some reason it has some weird stuttering not
caused by players pc. Also it might be a bit frustrating because when you crash,
flip over or exceed tracks limits you can respawn but the waiting time is way
too long. In my opinion it should be improved. Some more options would be highly
appreciated like ingame chat, option to turn collisions off or change number of
laps. 30 seconds counter after the first player finish may be too short for
slower players.
As for the cars - you can choose from 3 of them (2 need to be unlocked). They
feel to have the same power and handling and the only difference isbthe look.
Player can customise the appearance of the car by changing paint, frame color,
brake light color, add personal number and nationality.
Despite its early access game it feels very good, players may feel frustrated at
first but its not impossoble to master the car handling within two days of
playing. Once you learn the physics of the game it will be very satisfying. Game
is different, fresh and unique what will provide entertainment for long hours.

EDIT (8/11/2021): It's been a full year since release, and there are still NO
new cars, tracks, game modes...I hate to say this, but I kind of regret
splurging the $35 on this.
Original review: I deliberately held off from reviewing this game because I
wanted to see how far it would go after some time elapsed. After precisely six
months since it's been in early access, I kind of feel like the $35 price tag
isn't worth it.
I'm not usually one to complain about price, but for the amount of content right
now, even after six months have gone by, you're better off just downloading the
demo and keeping that. The demo might be just a 30-second race against the
clock, but you're not getting much more with the full version.
The game launched with two vehicles and three zones. Sure, some updates have
been added since then, including bug fixes, support for steering wheels, new
obstacles, etc. But no new vehicles, tracks, game modes, or even music have made
it yet. Online multiplayer is included, but it's very sparse. This is in
addition to the fact that currently you can't play against bots except for your
own shadow when doing a time trial. Speaking of time trial, it's the only game
mode right now.
Don't get me wrong, this game is using a custom-made engine by just TWO people.
From what I understand it took something like 20 years of on and off work to get
this engine to the point where it is now. The graphics are gorgeous for an indie
racer, and the mechanics are probably the most realistic I've ever seen in a
racing game (albeit how easy it is for a tire to fall off; just a gentle tap to
a corner and it's gone). On top of this, this is one of the few times I've ever
seen a developer genuinely care about Linux; the Linux version runs fantastic.
But with just two people on the team, I wouldn't be surprised if the game isn't
finished at least until 2022, more likely 2023. Even with DRAG being 25% off
during the Steam Lunar year sale, it's not worth the price right now for the
paltry content. Either wait for a bigger discount, or wait until there's a
couple of more vehicles and tracks added.

Physics are good but steering does need work.
When your at high speed the dirt feels like ice sometimes.
Very good game for Early Access but in my opinion overpriced.
Yes it is worth the money for me personally because i love grinding the
leaderboards.
I suggest everyone to try the DEMO its FREE :)
To the developers please consider the price again.
Start at 14,95 and bump it up to 29,95 @ Full Release.
Building a playerbase is so important.
100% sure some people want to buy this but checking the playerbase will put them
off.
It almost did for me but i was so bored of Trackmania i decided to buy it either
way.

Love it!
Brings back strong Rollcage / Drome Racers vibes for me, but like, for adults.
Super chill just putting laps in, flow state.
Epic physics. Super high hopes for this one when it's moves over to become
ExoCross.
Big recommend.
Dirt is love, dirt is life. <3

Having played GRIP, Both Dirt Rallies, Asseto Corsa, Forza Motorsport, a crapton
of NFS titles and whatnot in the racing department, I can say It has potential,
but maybe not in the current form.
The good:
-Found the driving mechanics kinda easy to get around a bit on the slidy side
but reasonably predictable, feels like a 4WD Group B machine with a crap-ton of
torque at all rpm ranges and zero assists.
-Graphically, the game is excellent vehicles are very well detailed, tracks,
mud, lighting, all on point, maybe, just maybe need some polishing in the
vegetation.
-The soundtrack is relaxing and focus inducing at the same time, nice picks.
-The menu is easy to navigate, can find your way around quite easily (except fot
the splitscreen).
The not so good.
-The exhaust pops sound like a mechanical "thump" from a massive activation
switch
-The soundtrack VARIETY. I know it's an early access, but slow beat synthwave in
all situations feels quite bland.
-I read the forums and i agree with whoever posted that vehicle tuning (tyre
pressure, suspension, downforce, etc) could be great. AND vehicle stats variety
(rwd, 4wd, fwd. Mid/front/rear engine or other stuff that affects driveability
and adds variety). But i dunno if that's the goal of the game or just to create
a racing "category" or a multi category racing.
The bad.
-The game at the current state feels pointless (i.e. lacking a clear objective
for the player). No campaign/single player vs CPU/Ai racers
-Multiplayer is basically dead. Which i can understand due to the fact of the
game being only almost 2 months old. Then comes back to the AI thing. I wish i
could play against bots when i play in weird schedule, not just against the
clock and the terrain/vehicle.
-The splitscreen is very well hidden, but it's there. (I'd suggest a sub menu
within a multiplayer option or simply a splitscreen option in the main menu)
-The deathwalls, i understand you guys want to create the precision environment,
but a simple concrete barrier would jank a wheel off the car when collided
against and would look more in place and sound with the theme than an energy
wall (maybe a ditch, "deep" water, rocks or something that would damage the
vehicle when a "shortcut" was performed.
-Racing UI or the lack of one, no speedometer, no Rev counter, no boost
indication. There is no need to arcadize the game, but some info would be good.
Final thoughts:
I read the roadmap of development and saw no mention of AI players, single
player championships, a storyline, context
or anything that would make the offline experience more interesting. And i
really think that is a missed opportunity, you guys have the perfect formula to
engage a lot of people in a fun, more difficult, yet accessible, driving without
directly appealing to race sim community, driving away the casuals.
As it is, it feels like a tryhard offroad Trackmania with softbody physics and
without an editor.
TL:DR
This game has a lot of potential but it's not there yet, you will get bored fast
if you're not a time trial/precision run fanatic. The price is too steep for
what it offers at the moment, buy on a sale or keep an eye on the development. I
got GRIP and BallisticNG on early access and turned out great and i hope this
game also succeed.

I played the demo and loved it, but wanted to use my racing rig rather than
controller. Now that wheel support is added I took the plunge even with the
slightly high price tag. The game just oozes quality. Yes it's a bit bare bones
but what there is, is just superb. The physics take a little getting used to,
but then your away. The graphics are beautiful and I'm getting around 120 fps on
a 1080TI with graphics at max. I love working through the challenges and it's
got that "just one more go" addictive quality to it. In its state right now id
say it's worth the money, as there isn't anything else out there like it that
I'm aware of. The Devs seem to be giving regular updates and patches which is
all you can ask for. Hopefully this game will really take off once it's out of
early access. If you love these style of games, then buy it now and support the
Dev!

Physics are really challenging, but in a good way. I like that the challenge
mode exists to help you learn the tracks prior to jumping into multiplayer. At
this point it kind of feels like Mario Kart for grown-ups (not that grown-ups
can't enjoy Mario Kart). I obviously need to spend a lot more time with it, but
dropping this review early to re-assure interested players that it's not a mess
or anything, just a little thin on content perhaps.

Fun multiplayer, 3 minute qualifying before each race begins. Keeps the action
going without wasting too much time qualifying. Damage is pretty satisfying and
the driving feels good on controller and keyboard. Wheel support will make this
game even more awesome, and the devs have claimed its coming soon. (Partial
wheel support may already be available, but force feedback coming soon)
Support the devs and help get the multiplayer player-count up!

Should really be called 'Drift'
I really wanted to like this game. The graphics are superb, and the fact that
it's built on a custom game engine is both inspiring and promising. However, the
gameplay itself is atrocious. The cars have all the traction of a block of
butter sliding around on a hot skillet. They're as eager to start drifting as a
husky is to go outside, and as reluctant to regain traction as the same husky
when you want him to come back in.
And get this: you cannot even change the key bindings. That's a feature any
half-decent programmer could implement within a day. There is simply no excuse
for releasing a game in this condition. And that causes me to lose hope that
this game will improve at a pace that's even remotely acceptable.

The game is good if you like grind-the-leaderboard type of games with some
hardcore driving physics tied to it. Haven't tried the multiplayer yet, I'll
update the review once I do that as well so my take will mostly be on the
Challenges.
I feel like the only real challenge in the mode with the same name are the times
chosen for each medal/trophy.
The tracks themselves are not that hard ( played up to half of the second set).
Most of the difficulty was the fact that you need super competitive times in
order to actually get the best possible trophy, for example there was a race
where I had to get a top 30 time for the track ( I think in A or first half of B
) just to get diamond, as opposed to most games of this kind with lower time
gates that mean everyone can complete the game with a decent enough effort
without needing to grind the same level for hours and only those with higher
expectations are required to grind it out and battle for the best possible time.
One other thing of note is that I feel the game still needs some work in the
physics department. There were portions of races where I drifted all the way in
my first run and in the second run I managed to keep my traction and go flat out
through the same portion of the race and I could see the ghost accelerate
compared to me which is pretty messed up since a car without traction that is
going sort of sideways can't possibly accelerate faster than a car moving
straight at full traction. There were also other inconsistencies I encountered
with drifting because I seem to lose traction pretty randomly in certain
conditions and not be able to consistently count on being able to pull a drift
or not.
And finally: Why do my tires squeal on a straight on concrete no matter how slow
I try going and how much I try to manage traction? Is it just a design choice, a
sound bug, or do the cars literally not have traction on a concrete/asphalt
straight line? I found that confusing and I couldn't understand which of these
it actually was.
I do recommend the game if you like challenging driving games with some time
attack grinding attached to it, just expect some frustration due to weird
physics here and there and some inconsistencies.
