I enjoyed this game, though I felt the audio and visual cues for some obstacles
(particularly the walls and some beats) weren't descriptive enough for the
player to be aware of them. I found myself being caught by the second turn many
times, not being being able to hear or see the threat in time to react
(accounting for 90% of my mistakes). I also found it annoying missing beats that
were right after turns, as they appear right after the screen has to re-orient
itself. In general I found myself playing very visually, as audio cues were
often deafened by gameplay, or too subtle for me to notice. I also felt like
gameplay consisted mainly of abstract beats, rarely actually sounding like
music. There were certain parts in level 8 that created a catchy beat, but I
found this game as a whole was lacking moments like that. The game's visuals are
remarkable, and certain moments (like dropping beats in chains) felt cool, but I
found this game lacking as a rhythm and music game. If there were more moments
in this game that felt like I was creating the music, I would be happy to give
this game a positive review.

I'm just an innocent space beetle, if this stupid giant head would stop trying
to eat me, I wouldn't have to break spacetime.

"Rhythm violence" is a great description and I love this game. It's like Simon
Says from hell.
I played it with kbm fine.

One of the best yet most unique and bizarre rythm game !
You play as a metal beetle, going at a hundred miles per hour on a
rollercoaster-like track, trying to survive and avoid obstacles, all while
staying on the rythm of the music.
I Really liked not having only 2/4 and 4/4, but more niche time signatures !
Definitively worth buying !

This game is like really awesome unique and satisfying but one huge problem with
it being a rhythm game is it's lack of clear audio cues for certain obstacles in
the later levels. Many times it just feels like you need to keep replaying parts
to remember certain turns because it is literally impossible to hear the cue
when there is so much shit going on especially if you are trying to combo for
your score. Great game and really fun gameplay but it's just a really glaring
problem you will encounter the further you get.

Excellent game! Was recommended as the "Dark Souls of rhythm games", and I think
I agree. It's very well designed and captivating. I really want to 100% it in
the future.

Very unique and fun rhythm game. Feels a bit like "platformer" with all the
evades you do. Gorgeous visuals and OST, tight controls. Some levels are kind of
challenging but neither unfair nor impossible. Definitely worth playing.

I absolutely love this game. I find it a bit difficult to explain why I love it,
but I'll give it a try...
I've enjoyed rhythm games like Guitar Hero in the past but I never reacted to
them like I reacted to Thumper. It's just one of those games where the feel, the
look, the music... it all combines into something so wonderfully distinct, I can
just totally lose myself in it. I feel exhilarated when I finally nail a section
I've screwed up so many times before, terrified when the music hits just that
right ominous note and the game seems to be doing everything in its power to
throw me off, frustrated when I crash on a corner which I've hit perfectly the
last 20 times I've tried it... and finally relief when I complete a level and
find myself at the score screen, when some music plays which eerily sounds just
like The Shining soundtrack (awesome!)
I think part of the reason I keep coming back to it is that it can put me in a
state of absolute focus which I don't often find in games, but I find really
really helpful when I just want my internal monologue to shut up. The closest
experience I've had in the past is the total focus I had to find when I played
through Dark Souls for the first time.
I've no idea if any of the above will make sense to anyone else, but I hope it
does. And I know I'll keep coming back to this game, because I haven't found
anything else like it before or since.

DROOL... GUYS... YOU NEED TO MAKE ANOTHER GAME.
YOU LITERALLY DROPPED THE BEST RHYTHM GAME OF ALL TIME AND THEN JUST DISAPPEARED
AS IF IT WAS NOTHING.
I KNOW YOU GUYS HAVE SOME OTHER ARTISTIC PROJECTS OUTSIDE OF GAMING THAT ARE
AWESOME.
BUT FOR THE LOVE OF THAT'S HOLY, DON'T LET US HANGING HERE.
THUMPER IS A MASTERPIECE,
WE WANT MORE,
WE NEED MORE.
MORE.

I may not have played this game for a long time but it's one of my favorites to
boot up and play a level or two. It's one of the best rhythm games ever. Highly
highly recommended. Better than all the Bit Trip games, better than Elite Beat
agents lol
Also I have additional hours on Switch
