This game is a visually stunning game with innovative narration that reacts to
my actions. Its vibrant artwork and captivating soundtrack enhance the immersive
experience. However, for me the gameplay is repetitive, and the storytelling
primarily through narration isn't really for me. Overall, I liked this game for
its unique approach and visual charm, but not the gameplay.

The first and arguably best Supergiant game.
If you're here now in 2024 you probably know the devs by now. You know how great
the art and music and gameplay and story is.
Well, It's always been that good and here is the proof.
Now go play it.

I Greatly Recommend Bastion.
In Bastion, you play as The Kid, a prodigious little soldier that had his world
shattered and send up into the skies by an event known as The Calamity, your
every step temporally puts the world back together and your every action is
narrated by a soothing and deep voice that reminisces on places and people long
gone, the voice tells you that there's a way to bring it all back, even the
people, the Bastion, it can make everything the way it has, but much like the
land below the Bastion, it has been broken, you must explore and carve through
the ruins of two warring nations to recover its pieces, restore the Bastion,
restore the world.
Bastion is an action game what walks you through the the turbulent history of
two nations, their people and those caught between in a unobtrusive and
compelling manner by delivering superb narration that acknowledges your actions
while you explore and fight through floating islands, every single level has a
different theme, story beat and mechanical spin to it, making them as memorable
as the game's tunes, some of which you shall carry long after your playthrough
is over, all that with solid action gameplay complemented with weapons that
require a different set of skills and strategy to be mastered through the
proving grounds. As the Bastion is restored, it allows modifications to your
arsenal, training of complementary active skills, the distillation of drinks to
change your base attributes or grant new ones, and by praying to the gods at the
Bastion's shrine you can enhance different aspects of your enemies in exchange
for greater rewards, all that allowing for great customization of your
playthrough.
By the end of it, I was completely invested in the main cast of characters,
cared for every single soul affected by the Calamity, human or otherwise, every
memento, motivation, tune and grudge carried, every broken piece of the world
and the price paid to put it back together.

These developers are in a class of there own. Glimpse of what is now Hades can
be seen in this first release from "indie developpers" (in quotation because
this can be mistaken as a AAA game).
The music is fitting to each level setting.
Levels provide variation and never seems redundant.
The narrators voice, who describes every minute detail, helps the player really
insert one self in the game.
Although the game was released in 2011, the graphics aged really well.
Highly encourage this game to anyone

"Bastion", developed by Supergiant Games, is a beautiful action RPG that
combines engaging gameplay with a compelling narrative. You play as "The Kid",
navigating floating, hand-painted environments to rebuild a shattered world. The
combat is smooth and varied, with a wide range of weapons and abilities to
experiment with.
The standout feature is the dynamic narration by Logan Cunningham, which reacts
to your actions and adds depth to the story. The stunning art style and
evocative soundtrack by Darren Korb enhance the immersive experience.
Pros:
-Engaging, dynamic narration.
-Gorgeous hand-painted visuals.
-Excellent soundtrack.
-Varied combat and customization.
Cons:
-Relatively short game length.
-Some might find the story straightforward.
Overall, "Bastion" is a memorable experience with its unique narration and
beautiful presentation. 9/10

An intriguing game, featuring an unconventional yet distinctly original linear
narrative. The game provides a diverse array of weapons to choose from, and the
battles are consistently demanding, though it may fall short in terms of monster
diversity. It delivers a robust and challenging gameplay experience that will
keep you thoroughly engaged throughout.

IN-DEPTH
⚔️ GAMEPLAY & EXPLORATION:
Bastion is a 2.5D top-down game that, at first glance, may appear to be a
rogue-like, but that's not the case. It is the place where other games seem to
have started and taken inspiration, and from which Hades, the developers behind
Bastion, also drew inspiration.
It's a linear action game where you get to dodge, use a different variety of
weapons, and obtain upgrades to overcome each challenge. Weapons are abundant
and vastly different from one another, each with a large array of abilities.
Idols are also an addition to this game, offering you the ability to gather more
spirits, which serve as your currency but also provide a great challenge in
combat.
Additionally, you'll have challenges for each weapon you use to strengthen your
skills and improve your reaction time in combat.

😄 FUN:
It's a challenging game with peculiar platforming moments, yet it's not a bad
one by any means. The story is captivating and interesting, keeping you
intrigued for the most part.
🏞 VISUALS & PRESENTATION:
Personally, I found the art style to be somewhat harsh on the eyes. It's
challenging to appreciate what's happening in the world, as everything seems
rather randomly generated by these platforms and cubes. I didn't enjoy it much,
and it was often quite difficult to see where you were stepping because of it.

🔊 SOUND & VOICE-ACTING:
The quality of both the music and narration in this game is exceptional. I found
great enjoyment in the storytelling as it was presented through the perspective
of Rucks.
📖 STORY & WRITING:
In Bastion, the story revolves around the character known as the Kid, who finds
himself in a world torn apart by a catastrophic event referred to as the
Calamity. As the player progresses through the game, the Kid's primary objective
is to collect special shards of rock scattered throughout the world.
These rock shards play a crucial role in powering the Bastion, a central
structure within the game. The Bastion serves as a place of refuge and hope in
the midst of the post-apocalyptic chaos. As the Kid gathers these shards, the
Bastion gradually becomes more powerful and begins to rebuild the shattered
world.
The narrative is rich and engaging, with the player unravelling the mysteries of
the Calamity and the history of the world as they collect these crucial shards.
The interplay between the Kid's journey and the gradual restoration of the
Bastion creates a compelling storyline that keeps players invested in the game's
world and characters. Bastion's narrative is an integral part of the gaming
experience, immersing players in a unique and captivating post-apocalyptic
setting.

🧵 LENGTH & DIFFICULTY:
Main story is not too long, but challenging. If you wish to complete the game it
will take you a lot of time and you will face many difficulties.
In order to fully explore the game you’re required to start a new game plus,
luckily you keep the upgrades and the spirits points you collected.
⭕️VERDICT:
Bastion provides a captivating and challenging gaming experience with a unique
narrative and a variety of weapons and upgrades. While some may find the art
style visually challenging, the exceptional music and narration contribute to an
engaging overall experience.
Although not a perfect game by any stretch of the imagination, it offers a good
experience and is a worthy candidate to try in your next adventures.

"I feel like I told this part a thousand times now."
Bastion is a very well crafted game. Having played Hades as my first Supergiant
game on Switch I can see all the beginning implementations that started in this
game. This is not a roguelite however. This is more of an action RPG with a
linear progressive story. Builds will not be as varied as Hades. However,
everything is tight. All weapons are usable. Difficulty modifiers come in the
form of the shrine. Distillery provides build options stat wise. The story is
fantastic. It is told to you through a narrator who is excellently voiced. The
journey to the end is well worth it. Definitely recommend Bastion.
