Deep Voodoo Gaming’s debut game, One of the Last, launches for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive as a brutally fun and challenging VR shooter experience. Relentless zombies, destructive guns, and fast, fluid action provide the foundation for intense, first-person combat – whether you’re smashing brains through a zombie infested city in the single-player campaign, or competing against your friends in multiplayer mode.

Zombies physically climb over each other to get to players, dodging round and fighting over obstacles put in their way, stopping at nothing. Even when they have lost a limb or two!

With an endless stream of zombies players will need to literally grab whatever they can to hold back the reaching hands. Doors become shields; planks of wood become improvised zombie bashing weapons.

As well as improvised weapons, levels are littered with a range of guns from handguns to automatic rifles to the devastating Grenade Launcher and Lightning Gun. Players and guns can be boosted by perks that litter the levels in soda vending machines giving them added abilities for a limited time like more powerful bullets, invincibility and special one-off attacks.

When asked about what makes this game unique, Lead Developer, James Hunter stated “We knew that creating a unique wave shooter would require some innovative gameplay not yet seen in VR games. Having an enemy that was fully physics based and not bound to static animations and AI was key to the total immersive feel”. He went on to say, “Gamers want depth in their VR games. Asset flips and poor unsupported titles have done nothing to promote the VR ecosystem. We’re proud that we’ve released 22 major updates to our game, each adding a host of new features each time”.

Paul Sloan, Lead Level Designer, “We have created a game that is both challenging and fun to play, we have given the players enough room to develop tactics and strategies to help them fully explore levels and defend themselves from the hoard in a Virtual Reality environment.” Paul added “As a small independent developer in an emerging VR game market, by using a continually developing VR framework (VRTK), with a high regard for community feedback and play testers throughout the development process, we are proud to have produced a game that is not just another zombie shooter. It would have already been completed, released and forgotten about if it were. We have produced a game that is engaging, challenging, gives the freedom for the player to develop their own playstyle and to have fun.”
