Game: Non-Euclidean
Hello, fellow horror enthusiasts! I know it's been a long time since this game has been updated, and I know last time it was updated it was left in a pretty... unfavorable state. Though the last version was filled with bugs and was way too short, this version should at least begin to make up for that.
This full release means a new era of Non-Euclidean, so let me tell you about my journey getting to this point.
This games development began all the way back in 2019, but you may notice that's a lot of time to craft the current scale of the game, and that's for a few reasons. One being that this current build actually only began development 4 weeks ago! That's right! The game in the current state was created in only 4 weeks and still manages to be so much better than the past demo and beta builds!
The game's first version was originally created for a school project in which I researched what makes a game truly scary, and how the body actually responds to fear. Eventually, I morphed it into a completely new story, so after updating this old version of Non-Euclidean for around a year and a half off and on, I decided to scrap it. But this decision didn't randomly happen. My computer I had at the time ended up getting cereal poured into the top of it, (don't ask how,) so I lost all my files. This left me with one choice, ditch development, remake the game from scratch, or change EVERYTHING.
I chose to change everything.
After many versions that never saw the light of day, and one that did, I sort of gave up for a while. Though, I felt terrible knowing the state that the game was left in, so I decided that since I had time, I was going to completely remake Non-Euclidean.
And I did.
-New Monster Models
-Better Lighting
-Cleaner VHS Effect
-More Optimization
-Crouching that isn't broken
-English Voice Lines (w/ English subtitles.)
-New Story
-More Content
-New Environments
-Better AI
-Harder Gameplay
-Scarier Atmosphere
-Less Bugs
-Easter Eggs and References
But what now?
Well, even though this is technically the "full release" of Non-Euclidean, I decided to make it a Chapter based game. This was a decision made to allow me to focus on other hobbies and aspects of my life without being pressured constantly to craft this giant project. By splitting the project into multiple updates and chapters, it will allow me to take things one step at a time.
One thing this game will do differently than other Chapter based horror games, though, is have each Chapter be part of the same original game, and each new Chapter will be a free update.
I'm estimating Chapter 2's release to be in Late 2023 or Early 2024, though there will be updates in between now and then to fix and balancing issues or bugs, because I know for a fact the game is hard in its current state.
Currently, Chapter 1 gives about 30-45 minutes of play time, while each Chapter from now on should hopefully add about an hour worth of content.
And with that, happy gaming!
