You asked for it, and we’re delivering: here come extended epilogues!

Before we get into the details about what this means, let me first say how honored and humbled we are by the overwhelmingly positive response that The Pirate’s Fate has received. To each and every one of you who has supported and praised this project, we want to say thank you.

We also want to thank those who suggested how we can make the game better! This was our first game, so we knew that there’d be room for improvement. And the single most common suggestion was expanding the endings (spoilers follow below.)

All of the endings, save one, end with an interesting thought experiment, then the credits roll. Many of you said you wanted to have a longer, more emotionally satisfying ending experience, especially honoring the bond you’ve built with the characters.

At first, we thought about doing a little mini-wrap up for each ending. Then we thought about how many of you specified the one post-ending epilogue (the pie ending) as especially fun. So instead of doing 20+ tiny wrap ups, why not do a smaller number of scenes like that one? Most endings will still be brief, but a few will feature extended epilogues which explore life in the new world you have created, with a focus on interacting with the crew that you know and love.

We didn’t want to make you wait for these epilogues, nor did we want to put them behind a paywall. So we decided to start making them right now, and make them totally free. It’s just one way we can say thanks to the community which has shown us so much support.

The first new epilogue is already live! It’s relatively short, but we’ll be adding one or two new ones every week. Best of all, we’ll both be in the Steam forum, ready to chat with you about your ideas and thoughts on these new epilogues.

Please let us know what you think of them as we roll them out! We’re listening.

Lastly, we want to also say that we have been reading your feedback and we are trying to improve the game in other ways as well. We have been in talks with the developers of the engine we used to go over some of the overarching glitches some of you have encountered, and are working to fix everything that pops up as soon as we’re made aware of it. (Most of the glitches identified on day 1 have already been fixed.)

We thank you so much for your patience and support, and for sharing your experience and thoughts for ways we can make the game even better.

Thanks again,

T.F. Wright & Volkenfox

P.S. - if you want the exact location of the new epilogue, head on over to our forum!

P.P.S. - the game will patch automatically, as long as it is closed and Steam is connected to the internet. (restart steam if it does not update.) Your saves should still work just fine.
