Dear Players,
If you told me a bit more than a year ago that some day I'll release a puzzle game, I'd doubt your words. What happened instead is that I now have 2 puzzle games on Steam, released in the same year! Ladies and gentlemen, meet Shatris!
The reason I made Plastris is that I wanted to get used to a new game engine. I decided to transition from GameMaker to Unity and didn't want to make some engine-specific mistakes on a big and ambitious project, so I thought that the easiest game genre to release would be a puzzle. Nonetheless, I enjoyed developing it because I could work together with my girlfriend and design this game using just paper, pen and sometimes dried peas while I was at home, on a bed or even on a bus.
The reason I made Shatris, however, was because I wanted to improve on the previous game. I felt like I didn't push it to its full potential and I wanted to make something that is similar, but better. I wholeheartedly believe that I managed to achieve that, but obviously it's not my opinion that matters. :) Thus, in case you're interested in puzzle games, I hope that you'll try it out yourselves and share your thoughts with me.
Now I finally feel like I've learned enough to start something ambitious and I hope to meet you again in 2021. :) I have a few prototypes ready, but I still haven't decided what exactly the upcoming game of mine will look like. However, there's a 90% chance that it will be controller-based and 2 players will be able to play it on the same couch.
Thank you for reading this announcement, I wish each single one of you to have fantastic winter holidays and only the best of luck in the upcoming year!
Yours forever,
Ivan Zlobin (Khud0)
