Fun game but not enough depth. It's better than the average online game about oil mining you'll find and a little deeper than the mining in Capitalism 2 but overall just not enough on the management side. You're simply yielding a resource and selling it for the market average, hoping to get a good deal.
A very barebones game, bad implementations of assets and AI. Very limited building options. I tried it a couple of times trhough the years, since the game released already in 2016. I bought it as an early access game in the hopes it would become a nice casual economy sim, but alas I was deceived with yet another milkcow of Astragon. TransOcean 2 Rivals (and TO1) is also from Astragon. Both TO's are based of Ports of Call XXL by a german game developer. Which was released as early as 1995 also by Astragon. I can understand that Astragon is no triple A gamestudio, but these kinds of mindless and uninspired milking cows is what I hate about it. Concepts of their games is usually on par, but the production quality and assessment is non existent. In all honesty I cannot recommend this game or any other from Astragon, with a few rare exceptions.
I would recommend this game if it worked. It does not. As soon as I open a second oil field, the whole game crashes. Every time. The upshot of this is that only a handful of scenarios are playable, including the tutorial.
The game is very random and unforgiving. A lot of times you lose for no better a reason than the game is random. Contract cancelled random thing broken down, million dollars in debt you lose. It's impossible to predict and sometimes you may spend hours on a single level just because you're getting bad starts. The game is also a lot smaller than it seems. You see the giant map and all the possible places you can expand to when you suddenly realize.... none of the levels are long enough to actually go into two different regions. It's a really really small game and probably isn't worth more than $2.
The idea of the game is good but it has absolutley no deepness in economics or building. Place a few buildings, earn money, place more, earn more and so on. If you have filled one oil field, go to the next and get even richer. Thats really boring and for this price absolutley not worth a recommendation. Tycoon games from the mid of the 90´s are beating this by 100 times. In a sale for 2 - 4 € its maybe worth to try for a few hours of fun if you have absolutley nothing else to play. In total I would say the game is really weak in comparison to other good tycoon games.
Some great concepts. A liittle buggy but not bad. I work in the Oil and Gas Industry and this is the 1st game I've tried with petroleum references that hasn't insulted it though having well sites at the plant site is pretty rare in my region. Will be interested to see the game develope if that is the plan.
Whoever was unfortunate enough to waste just a single penny on this game, hasn't read any of the reviews. This is one of those 'let's call it a game, and rip off people as well as possible' developments. I can not put into words how bad this game is...leave alone all the glitches. No seriously - this is a WARNING - I have spent money to come to this conclusion, so that you won't have to. Don't waste your money on this.
By far the most stupid game ever that I've tried. It makes absolutely no sense and that is just the tutorial. DONT'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS RUBBISH!
I was amuzed, but very shortly because it's quite a shallow game. I'd say it was a tablet game if not for the price. Pick it up in a steam sale, I'd say.
Was hoping for a remake of Oil Imperium (aka Black Gold), but alas, it's not... The game is quite simple, yet it's a tad demanding. Gameplay is limited, and there's not alot to do but after the demanding start. Once you've gotten a base income sorted, there's not many challenges. Yet it's still fun to see how big you can make your company. I'd really appreciate it if there we're more elements from Oil Imperium, not just a game that resembles something you'd find in iTunes... I still recommend it, simply cause its a bit of a challenge and it's not expensive. Pluss it's still not in full release! So it's looking promising.
It's a pretty good game. I've always been a fan of the tycoon games and this has the potential to be one of the good ones. Some of the missions are abit confusing though (but it's still alpha, so it's ok) and there's abit of a misconseption from the developers that seem to think that their language (german) is the international language. The news here on steam are in german first and then english. Some of the menues are in german (I'm guessing they make the game in german and forgot to translate). Since I'm from Denmark it's not that big of a problem, (we learned alot of german during WW2) but for the non european people this could pose a problem. Note to the developers: Please stop being lazy with the translations. How would you feel if you bought a game that was in german and it later on turned into Danish? Jeg tror ikke i ville være særlig glade... So please respect the international language if you want to be taken seriously as international game developers.
Interresting but not deep enought. The "design" is not very good but it s not a key point. This game could be the starting point for a deeper simulator: take over IA competitors, stock options, change of technology that changes the reserves, by-products etc. There is few good oil simulators. There s a place for someone to develop a better option. Or Oil Enterprise does it or it will done at some moment. Buy it for ideas!
I find the game lacking in content which means it doesnt justify the price and then the Devs decided to change the game status from early access to finalized build without really changing anything. So a lacking product with devs that have questional morals. Dont support them by buing this product
Very Little Content. Not Very Fun.
At the time of this review, I'm only 4 hours in, but I think it is a decent game. For me, I work in the industry, and I know it is pretty complex, which explains why there isn't good simulators for it as opposed to aviation, rail, or even retail industry. What I found great about this game is even in its simplicity and cartoony style; it does capture the following: - The oil business is about optimizing processing. - Optimization is not a simple accomplishment, as the measurement of each processing segment doesn't match with adjacent pieces. - It not only includes exploration, development, processing, storage, and transport logistics, but marketing, mainenance, and safety. - When played fully, you need to get license to operate in different countries, you have to develop those regions differently, and the regions are not cookie cutter to other regions. - Contract management and ullage is well done. - I haven't been successful enough to develop the corporate offices yet, but from what I've seen of the build options, I think that was well considered, especially as a separate and segregated piece of regional development and processing, because that's how it is the major oil companies. There's some cons (graphic artifacts, some unnecessary menu clicking, maybe a bit too cartoony for the subject) about it as a game, and it does look like it could use a little more polish. And if the developer is considering an updated version in the future (thinking new paid release), then competition would be nice, even if it is just shown in the marketing aspects (something that explains why prices go up and down). But the cons are superficial in my view, because the game plays well and every other attempt I've seen for simulating the oil industry is far worse and completely unplayable. If you want to understand something about the business of oil, then this is the best game I think you can find. If you are just looking for another strategy/city builder game to play, then this might not be your best choice.
Not fun. Bubble heads insulting and cartoonish to the point of this appearing to be a kids game. No tips help or logical instructions as to how the game works. I have tried to like this game but it simply is in too unfinished a state to be playable. WHEN YOU STICK A PUMPJACK PUMPING STATION AND TANK IN THE GROUND YOU PRODUCE OIL. Not in this game. Where's Waldo what do I do next. Terrible tutorial, just all around not fun. Same folks who made mining simulator.

Fun game but constantly crashes so that it is unplayable. I have enjoyed what i've gotten to play though.
People seem to be complaining about the graphics but the designers made a choice to make it cartoony and the look is consistent so I'll say the graphics are pretty good for the style they went for and give it a pass on that front. Now here is what I don't like about the game and why I will give it a not recommend rating: 1) The game world looks dead If the numbers weren't moving you'd swear the game had crashed because there is just about zero animation. 2) Music is the techno equivalent of elevator music 3) No vehicles or construction or roads or anything you just plop down facilities wherever you want. 4) Extremely shallow financial/production information. 5) No staff management at all. You can see little oil workers drawn in parking lots and outside of buildings but you don't hire them and they don't move. I guess it is just implied that you have staff. It looks good but it's a tablet game at best and the type of game you'd play while taking a long dump.
This game is seriously overpriced: I played for not even 2 hours and filled half of a map already. It is sooooo repetitive: You build the same 5 buildings all the time to make more cash. Then you build more of those buildings to make even more cash and to be able to build more of those 5 buildings. Not really entertaining. (you can build more than 5 buildings but they are all the same. Only difference is the capacity) The music is very anoying too (ok, it can be muted but still) For 2€ I would buy it, not for 18€. I asked for a refund
