Aside from what some people may say, I really like this game, it is rough around the edges, sure, but its still quite fun!
If you are reading this comment, you are having more fun and entertainment right now than this game will ever give you.
I hate to say it, but the negative reviews are right, it really is boring. There just isn't anything to make you want to play. There's no motivation here. No real goal, no real intrigue. It's almost like if a screensaver was really difficult to play. What this game needs more than anything else is a complete contextual overhaul. Imagine this: in the far future, the planet has frozen over and society has dwindled and has in some ways progressed yet some ways reverted. Drilling is no longer possible, so traditional transportation like sled dogs has become more common as fuel ran out and froze over. You need to earn money by selling research data, something highly sought after by the scientists who are trying to find a way to rebalance the planets eco system and disrupt the ice age. Thus begins your new existence sledding around the polar region, earning money and researching. The way it is right now is just...pointless. There's no reason to play this game as it is. No more motivation than a mobile game idle clicker. A better context can fix that!
I am really enjoying the game I think that what it is right now is a fun and enjoyable experience but I feel that it does have the potential to be much more. My suggestions 1. more later game content to explore I feel that as it is now once you've built up enough resources the game no longer has anything to explore. 2. I believe that the map system could be improved slightly I find myself circling around to the same locations again and again and I understand the vastness of the landscape that is meant to be conveyed but I think the game could benefit from more lookout points such as the one on the boat or perhaps a cheap way to build them that would give the mountains a better purpose as vantage points and also the ability to upgrade the personal telescope would be nice 3. I have not yet found a way to explore the caves I'm going to look on the forums to see if they are accessible, But I feel that the caves could be a major way to build onto the game in the future through exploration, new materials, different environments and story elements. ect (also realized as I was writing this that I have not explored the dark matter aspect of the game) Overall I really enjoy the game and I really hope that it continues to be developed further if the developer wishes to continue to develop this game
chill bro.
For the $3 I spent i got 10 hours of fun and engaging gameplay with a story that had me actually reading the notes you pick up.
And I thought I was slowpoke at games... This is sloooow even for me. "Planet Crafter" on 0.1 speed with no terraforming, in Arctic settings, with some melancholic and dramatic uhmm.. findings. And doggos. Looks more like an early access. Good vibe. For 1$ it's OK for me, that's it. PS Russian translation is just terrible... Eye-bleeding font, lot's of typo and formatting problems.
Beautiful and calming game. Just enough to keep you paying attention without ever feeling imposing or dire. It is definitely its own vibe, so if you want complex, detail, intense games, this is not for you. This is a small relaxing sweet game that does exactly what it set out to do. Maybe it's too easy, but honestly, I would just call it casual. It's easy so that you can play it simply and enjoy the view instead of min/maxing your gamer experience. I loved playing this game and it was really fun. Had a little bit of a hiccup building my base, and forgot to save and lost many things. Will come back when the loss of my base wears off. Excited to come back to whatever updates await in my future. Already see the aurora borealis update and can't wait to get back. :)
Very nice game, absolutely lovely atmosphere chill gameplay, needs some polishing, I really hope it's development will continue and it'll become one of my favourite indie games.
Really impressive for two devs, fun exploration game for a day with a friend
I think the gameplay can get a bit tedious at times, but there's something about it that I really like. The isolation, the inhospitable environment, and yet it's relaxing. Just something about that feeling of going out of your way to find stuff and satiating that curiosity of "What's over that way?" is so amazing. Finding letters from people who aren't here anymore, finding wrecks of everything from ships to hot air balloons to space stations frozen and stripped bare by the harsh climate gives such an eerie feeling, but it's never a scary or worrying feeling. Just a weird kind of melancholic curiosity. As far as gameplay goes, I wish destroying tools and such gave you back some or all of the resources you used to make them. Other than that, I don't have much to say. It's a nice game.
Arctico is a cozy little exploration-based game. If you are looking for an action packed survival game, this is not for you. The little lore tidbits around the game are solemn and thought-provoking. I found the base building limited but solid enough for what it is. Highly recommend for the price, ESPECIALLY if on sale.
This game is super relaxing and it's fun to explore. Sometimes I wish there were more explanations to items you can build and how to use them properly. Other than that I have no issues with the gameplay and co-op is really fun. I can definitely recommend it if you're looking for something to play when trying to chill after a long day :)
This game has a beautiful atmosphere, nice vibes and feels super calm, but maybe too calm! I got it to enjoy some co-op chill gaming with my sister, but the game felt lifeless, no apparent objective, you just roam the world freely doing the same activities; Find a racked ship, farm few things from the ground, pick up a note to read, feed your dogs and repeat. It felt like it had no real co-op in game, you're there together but doing things repeatedly and separately! I wish it had an objective, a threat that you need to eliminate, more fun things, and most importantly.. A real co-op experience.
Huskies are the best! <3
lost all progress after falling through map, anger.
