I'd really like to play this game but I can't. The game does not run well on a
modern computer. I'm not sure what the FPS I got was but it was probably in the
low single digits. Community chat postings seem to indicate that these issues
are widespread and there is no known solution for them.

This game holds up very well even after all these years. Used to play it off a
CD and i thought i would try it again after ages.
The combat works great compared to Port Royale 4 and with the added
content/DLC's there is plenty to do.
The trading and economy mechanics are easy to learn, yet still decently complex.
The game has a playtime of fulfilling content of around 30 hours minimum, at
least from my experience.
The only downside is that it crashes on my PC from time to time. It would be a
negative review if this game came out recently but since it was made over 10
years ago it is alright. As long as you save the files regularily there isnt a
problem. Aswell a plus is that there are plenty of save game slots so you can
jump between scenarios, free play or campaign as you please. The Autosave
adjusts accordingly.
All in all a joyful game to keep one busy for a while.

This game is so simple, yet so addictive. Every aspect of it perfected and not a
single thing could be taken away. The only complaint is that the free mode does
not have a clear end game condition, which feels a bit empty after a while.
