Game: Fear Equation
">
Rather than have you waiting for details, we thought we'd give you a peek at what's coming up. Please note that the following features are not final and may change during development.
Over the last few updates, we've tweaked many of Fear Equation's core mechanics to streamline train management, including cargo and passenger transfers, cabin movement, skill filtering and more.
This trend will continue in future updates. For example, with the next patch, we'll be providing players with options to enable instant page turning for all in-game books, fast cabin movement and the ability to sleep immediately at the end of the Guard phase via the clock / accelerate time key.
Because these settings have an impact on immersion, they will be disabled by default.
While the Engineer often has his or her hands full during the trip to salvation, we're always looking for ways to spice up the journey. Soon, you'll have to contend with the mysterious "Wanderers".
Wanderers are Fearless who have abandoned the cause and are willing to deal with the Engineer. If you encounter one -- and allow him or her to come on board, the Wanderer will provide the host carriage with a powerful benefit.
For a price, of course, in the form of the occasional sacrifice.
Wanderers come in a few varieties -- one will simply protect the host carriage from the fog, while another can convert resources into needed supplies. If you refuse a Wanderer's request... well, it's your fault for letting him or her on the train in the first place.
The Wanderers also deal directly with the Engineer, so expect to field a few interesting demands from your new "frenemies".
Finally, and by far the biggest update coming to Fear Equation, is the addition of a new, short-form game mode.
We're not quite ready to go into detail about what this mode involves, but it's sufficient to say if you're after a quick, punchy session of Fear Equation, this new mode will be right up your alley (or railroad).
It turns the original game on its head, so while it will be familiar to experienced players, it'll present a fresh, intriguing way to play. At the moment, the new mode shouldn't take longer than 45-60 minutes to play out.
That doesn't necessarily mean you'll win in that hour... this is Fear Equation, remember?
We're working hard on some meaty updates for Fear Equation, but we can only get them out so fast!
