Game: Star Tactics Redux
Hello Admirals,
We were silent for too long. This project made us make any possible development mistake.
We still haven't fulfilled our promises made to you, our dear community. On behalf of the whole team - we're just two guys though :) - I'm asking to excuse us for that. We didn't do well and every negative review of the game is deserved.
But we returned to the development some time ago. Not full-time, not as constant as we'd want. Not that I can make any more promises. But we have already implemented some improvements and are definitely going to release an update in the future.
Here's what we already did:
- Added 18 new ships - 12 for player fleet, 6 for enemy fleet;
- When the turn ends, projectiles are now freezed;
- Improved explosion VFX with displacement shader and flashes;
- Added the glitch VFX with possibility to switch it off;
- Redesigned layout of Main Menu to look more like a PC game :)
- Added an option to set missiles to auto-pilot
- New help section with game rules, objects like asteroids description, abilities description and so on;
- Added 6 new abilities;
- Redesigned the campaign so player now can choose which ships will take part in a battle
- Improved an AI so enemy ships now avoid missiles, try to fly from the most vulnerable side, set targets according to priority (capitals target capitals, fighters target fighters) and take into account their most effective side, firepower-wise;
- Added fog of war and visibility zones + corresponding abilities;
- Added neutral minefields, gas nebulae and nebulae to hide in;
- Got rid of ugly 2D ship icon when zoomed out, added nice frame instead;
- Added beautiful background instead of BW stars.It's possible to disable it;
- Redesigned the ship-info panel to look less casual;
- Ships now have names like 'Tornado, Aukeratu-class Battlecruiser'
- Info-tooltip to check weapon info;
- Icon on ships with active defect;
So, the game now has much more content, is looking better and UI is more convenient for PC players and campaign provides much more replayability.
All of the above will be available for free.
Our next steps is:
- finish the update and release it;
- make a paid DLC with new FTL-like game mode.
As small indie-developers we have to earn money with this game to continue make games. So we decided to try to earn some money by making the DLC AFTER the free update with all the above.
I am really sorry for the whole situation. We're now trying to improve it.
Unfortunately, I can't give any estimations on when we'll release this update. But this will definitely happen!
With the best regards,
Alexey
