Q1: How do I change the language of the game?

The game is currently available only in English and Simplified Chinese.

To change the language, please right-click on the game in your Steam Library and select “Properties” in the menu. Go to the “Languages” tab and choose the preferred language in the drop-down menu. Re-install the game, and then the game language will be changed accordingly.

(*Please note that the English save data is not compatible with the Chinese version and vice versa . You would need to delete your save files, if any, before changing the game language. Please follow the steps below in section Q2 to delete them. )

Q2: My game opens up to a black/white screen with background music. What should I do?

If you were able to run the game smoothly and get a black/white screen only after update, please exit the game and follow the steps below to delete the save files:

I / Right-click on the game in your Steam Library and select “Properties” in the menu.

II/ Go to the “Local Files” and select “Browse Local Files”.

III/ Delete the TWO save files, i.e. “Xishi_sf.sav” and “Xishi_tyrano_data.sav”.
(*Please be aware that all the gallery CGs and replay events, if any, will also be deleted. )

IV/ Reopen the game. It should be running smoothly again.

However, if this is the first time for you to launch the game, the white/black screen error is probably caused by your graphics card: This game requires a 64-bit graphics card to play.
(*Please note that a 64-bit system can be packed with a 32-bit graphics card.)

Please check if your graphic card is compatible with the game. If not, please install the game in a computer with a 64-bit graphics card. A graphics cardupdate is also recommended.

An alternative option is to try leaving the game running for a few hours. There is a single case report in which a player successfully ran the game after leaving it on overnight. But still, we recommend you to run the game on a computer that is compatible with it.

Besides, we hope you would understand that we are using a third-party game engine for this game. We have asked the engine developer if there is any future update to fix the 32-bit compatibility issue, but unfortunately, the developer has no current plans to do so. We apologize for any trouble that may have caused you.

Q3: Why can’t I screenshot with F12?

We are now working on it. The third-party game engine that we are using does not support the F12 screenshot feature. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Q4: How can I unlock the last gallery CG which is next to the Phoenix CG?

It is the letter of Wu ZiXu.

To unlock it, please read the plot of FuChai reading the letter in YiGuang’s or ChenFeng’s route: You do not have to watch the whole video; clicking away the video right after it starts will do.

Q5: I am not able to unlock a character’s ending. What can I do?

Please download the official walkthrough guide and follow the steps within:

If you still fail to unlock the ending after that, it is highly possible that your save files are corrupted. Please exit the game, delete the save files in the local files, and then restart the game.

Q6: I saved my game at a dialogue choice, but that saved file has gone missing. What should I do?

Please exit the game, delete your save files in the local files, and then restart the game.

The save files can get damaged when you save the game at a dialogue choice. But rest assured that this occurs only on very rare occasions. However, in case the error occurs, you can save your progress for two copies in the Save Screen before making your choice.

Q7: Why can’t I customize my names?

Please use other customized names. Be aware that, if the game system fails to identify your names, it will automatically reset to the default names.

Q8: Is it possible to add an auto-save feature, a new function which skip between dialogue choices, a SFX volume slider, and a voice replay function in history log?

We are sorry that all these functions are not supported by the third-party game engine that we are using. The only solution is to hire a full time programmer and rewrite the engine.

As a small company with limited resources, however, we hope you would understand that we are on a tight budget, hence cannot afford to rebuild the entire engine.

We are well aware of the technical limitations of the engine, but at the end of the day, it is royalty free.

Q9: Why do I have two vertical black bars on both sides of my game window instead of full screen?

The game is in 4:3 aspect ratio. You will have black bars on the sides when running it on a 16:9 monitor.

You can resize the game window by clicking on one of its corners and dragging in or out.

Q10: Why does my game sometimes jump to the next line when the voice acting of the current line is still not over ?

This is a technical bug of the third-party game engine that we are using. Please be assured that this should only happenwhen you are using Auto mode. We have also written to the engine developer for a solution, butgot a negative answer.

However, if you have experienced this problem while using Manual mode, it is highly possible that your sound card driver causes the game to crash. Please try running the game in another computer. A sound card driver update is also recommended.

Q11: My game freezes in chapter 11 of ChenFeng’s route when I’m using the skip function. What can I do?

There are a number of visual and audio materials in the latter half of ChenFeng’s chapter 11. Loading all the materials at the same time can take up a lot of resources and thus makes the game crash or freeze.

Please switch to Manual mode whenwatching the scenethatFuChai escapes from the chamber and runs into GouJianon the corridor. You can use the skip function again when Zhen Dan shows up.

Q12: Other issues

There are rare reports on issues like “blurry text in game”,“irrelevant images flash by between scenes” and “the background of the Start Menu turns black while the buttons are still functional”.

These problems occur due to that the plugins of the game engine are not compatible withthe Steam input. The only solution is to rewrite the source codes of the engine. However, we hope you would understand that we are on a tight budget hence cannot afford to do so.

We recommend you to go to the Configuration Menu and set a slower text speed, or try re-installing the game.
