It’s been a fun-packed April of expo’s. First we took the demo of Doctor Kvorak’s Obliteration Game to Norwich Gaming Festival over the Easter week, and then 7-9th April at EGX Rezzed in London. Wow, what a blast! Showing your game to players, and hearing about how much they love your creation – it really is an amazing experience.
Our long term strategy over the last six years has been to develop Doctor Kvorak in conjunction with the community. We have always maintained that constant player feedback is the very best way to produce a good game. So these expo’s really were a final test of our gameplay and story before the final push to the game’s release later this year.
It was a fantastic opportunity to give the Obliteration Game a thorough road test too. The playtesting proceeded very smoothly and we noted a few minor tweaks here and there which we will take on board and implement to make the UI as good as it can be. It was also the first time we had showed the script and voiceover to players, but we need not have worried as everyone liked it.
Although the Obliteration Game is designed to appeal to all ages, we particularly enjoyed showing it to kids on the Oculus Rift. For most, it was their first experience of VR, and the look of wonder after they had played the Obliteration Game was totally awesome. This was the best part of EGX Rezzed: that VR *wow* moment and then games are never quite the same again.
So overall, two successful Easter Expo’s. We love showing our game to players and we can’t wait for the next opportunity. When’s that, you ask? Well, stay tuned, and in the meantime, it’s back to work for us. We’ve got a game to finish!
