Game: Barbara-ian
Hey folks,
Owlbear is pleased to announce that there are now FRICKIN LASERS in Barbara-ian.
Here's a full rundown of whats in this update......
NEW Weapon - Tome Of Laser Vision
This is added straight into the weapon pool, so keep hitting them chests and you'll find it eventually! It's stupidly good, you're able to mow down everything around you with the blink of an eye. You'll still get killed, but it'll only be because you were marveling at the destruction and failed to see that little green freak sneak up on you.
NEW Enemy - Beholder
These guys start spawning at Level 3, so ALL YOU SLACKERS need to get there asap to check him out. You'll have to find out what he does for yourselves, but suffice it to say, Lasers feature pretty prominently
Progression
We actually went back on this little plan, if you read the announcement we made about the change. Currently it works exactly like before. We found that, especially after adding the stupidly OP lasers, you would never ever not use the best weapon. So we had a choice - balance all the weapons, making the most fun ones less fun, or stick with the previous progression model. So we stuck. We'll definitely revisit this later on, but for now, keep looting them chests!
Lighting
We stuck lights on the doorways. A not insignificant number of people mentioned the darkness as a problem - we like the dynamic it adds to combat, accidentally plunging yourself into darkness in the middle of a fight. However, it should never be so dark that you cant find the way to progress, so this solves that issue at least. We're still open to lighting the place up more, but try this out and let us know what you think.
There are also a couple of bug fixes, which I'll list here
- You can no longer show the seed selection using the Q button
- Sparks/Lighting fx for hitting stuff now spawns correctly on the hit object
- Fixed collision for various dungeon pieces to stop stuff flying through walls in quite such an unreasonable fashion
- Increased particle collision accuracy, so more blood will splash
So check it out & please do let us know what you think either here or over on the Steam discussion boards
Happy SMASHING (& pewpweing) y'all!
LOVE,
Owlbear
