This is a great little action platformer game with a few really smart puzzles.
It's a spinoff game from a different game called Hot Guns, which I've never
played, but I did actually also play the other spinoff game Prison Run & Gun.
The platforming and controls are fantastic and when controlling the character
everything feels perfect including the mid-air control. I was using the xbox 360
style PC controller while playing and it felt perfect. This would also be a
great game to play on the couch with a steam link.
The art style is nice and bright and very easy on the eyes, everything is very
nice and easy to see. The music is also really good. I found everything about
this game to be quite enjoyable.
As far as difficulty goes it starts off very easy and by the end of the first
map the difficulty has ramped up big time. It took me quite a few tries each on
the last 3 levels of the first map. With the next map the first few levels were
easy enough but I imagine by the end it will be quite difficulty. There are
about 24 or so levels split between two maps and there's a collectible in each
map that you can find if you want. Some are quite smart in the way that you have
to get them, I loved the one where you have to use up your boost tank at a
certain area so it will fly off your back and smash open the cage with the
collectible in it, that was really neat.
Fantastic little game, perfect for an hour or two of play. I found it best to
pick up and play a level or two or even three, then take a break and next time I
have some extra time throw it back on for a few more levels. It's fantastic in
short bursts with about 2 hours or so of game time if you don't bother with
collectibles. I'd recommend a controller for sure.

It's an okay game, not really special in any way but the thing that sealed the
deal for me was the controls. JUST AWFUL and you almost can't change anything
about them!!!

Fun little action platformer. Arcade-style difficulty, with pixel graphics. This
game sets itself apart from being another cheap platformer with great stylized
music and great character animation. There are also interesting boss monsters,
at the end of the maps.
Personally, I find the gameplay way too difficult, but I suppose many other
gamers will enjoy the challenge. I could not even get past the introduction
levels. It was a bit frustrating to lose all the money collected in a level,
everytime that I restarted. That is the nature of this developer's games, where
taking risks results in a reward, but only when you can survive to a checkpoint
and the level-end.
There are many optional jumping puzzles that require some thinking. These
encourage revisiting levels, to get those extra rewards. There is a lot of
content, with two islands of levels, prestige unlocks, excellent pixel graphic
animations, and great music.
This game uses the Unity Game Engine, and it has an install size of 175 MBs.
Worked great on an old 900MHz desktop running ubuntu linux 19.10 using an
xbox-type gamepad controller.

You get a ton of guns, crazy guys running around and you have to figure out some
things. It's not like Commander Keen, it's more like Rick Dangerous but not that
hard and more cool stuff and ideas.

Ambiguous mechanics, wonky hitboxes. Movement feels file, weapons feel good, but
enemy encounters and puzzles are unpleasant.

A surprisingly good game at a cost you must have acquired it and liked it
already.
I wouldn't be that happy if I had to play Mario once again. However, put a
machinegun in his hands, make him use a helmet a cool suit and a jet-pack...
Now we are talking!.
Do you like simple casuals?. Get it. I used to underrate it too.

I usually never buy games on early access, but I have to say that this one
totally worth it. Right now you have access to the whole first island which
represents 12 levels. This game is a clever puzzle platformer with a retro 8
bits aestethic that reminded me of course Super Mario, but also somewhat Metal
Gear Solid and Rick Dangerous. Each level is quite short, but if you want to get
the Jars (there is one on each level), you will have to find how, and this is
pretty rewarding.
PROS:
* Great clever level design
* Awesome music tracks, with a B-movie feel
* Nice pixel art and funny sprites, also 8-bits rag-dolls and good physics
CON:
* The game mechanics were not very manifest the first time I played despite the
tutorial
I don't see any other Con to list, apart maybe the price of 1$, because this
game totally worth 4x the price.

Shootout on Cash Island is a casual side scrolling shooter. The game draws from
any sides scroller you can think of (i.e mario, duke nukem, donkey kong, etc)
and it has elements of puzzle solving.
What you see in this trailer is pretty much what you get with this game (but
that's not a bad thing). The action is fast paced, the art style suits the game
well and the difficultly progesses at a nice even pace throughout the game,
introducing new items and weapons. Using the weapons was very satisifying
especially when there were was lots of action.
What we feel this game is lacking is levels that force the player to be
uncomfortable. While there were moments that did this, the game pushed the pace
back into your hands which felt like the adrenaline was over. Also, while there
are different varations of enemies we found they got repetitive.
Obviously still this game is in early access and the delevopers Quantized Bit
have done an awesome job at building a solid base for this game. The hours we
have on log is pretty much the time it took us to finish the game, but needless
to say we are looking forward to seeing what else this game has in store. Had a
lot of fun playing this game, we play a lot of Steam games and we think we got
our monies worth.

Positive:
+ Decent Graphic and Music
+ Every level feels fresh and challenging
+ Lots of different enemies
+ Good, fluid controls
Negative:
- Hitboxes are a little bit too generous towards the enemies
- Sometimes unfair situations, especially the boss fights
- Too many and unbalanced weapons, some are just trash

- minimum requirements windows xp ?!?
- Linux support
- no framerate limit with optional v-sync
-----> really cool !
It's one of the games that use old school pixelstyle graphics combined with
modern graphics engine and animations.
There are small riddles that have to be solved. There's also some strange humor.
I think the concept is not very new but I like such games and this one is well
made.
Shoot your way in this game.

Alot of fun for super cheap, as well as the achievements are challenging and
fair. Keep up the great work you guys, I own all your games and they get better

Shootout on Cash Island is a depressing game. Not because the game itself is
bad, no. Quite the opposite, really. I actually had tons of fun with the game.
It's depressing because as of this writing, it's only $3, and I picked it up on
sale for just $0.60. Cash Island is a lot smarter and a lot longer than its
price point implies; it's easily worth double the listed price, probably even
more than that.
Take the first level, for instance. Shootout on Cash Island introduces you to
its world through the context of Super Mario Brothers. You see floating brick
blocks, gold coins, and you think: "I know this game." Cash Island uses that as
a jumping off point to bring in its own mechanics: you can't smash bricks
without a hard hat. You can't jump on an enemy's head without a suit. There's
guns, dual wielding, physics, a weight system, grenades, jetpacks, blood, and
stacks and stacks of not just coins, but "real" money, too. It is Cash Island,
after all.
Super Mario Brothers is a perfect comparison, because it really does plan for
things on that level of intricate detail. It riffs off the Mario theme early on
because it knows exactly what you're thinking, and plays with those expectations
to teach you how its rules are different. It feels incredibly smart, and that
sharp eye for getting inside a player's head remains throughout the game.
Each and every level is incredibly thoughtfully designed to be challenging, but
rarely cheap. Puzzling, but not confusing. It took me around three and a half
hours to finish the game with the bare minimum to get the worst ending. If I had
to guess, there's probably three endings to the game, maybe four. It's just long
enough that it feels substantial, but getting a 100% full-clear casually isn't
out of the question.
It all makes for a pretty nice game. Nothing that will redefine genres or shift
paradigms, but tightly made and very fun. I get the feeling that if this had
released a few years earlier, before the flood of games entered Steam, a lot
more people would be talking about Shootout on Cash Island. It definitely
deserves better.

A quite interesting platformer for a fair price with interesting mechanix and
features and can easily compare to gods like Rayman Legends. It also has an
amazing 80's retro soundtrack. Totally worth trying!!
