So, the only thing I have to remark, is that the controls coul be a little tighter. Otherwise plays wonderfully. It's a nice puzzle platformer and with the level makeup in some stages and limited thinking time reminds me of Catherine, just Family friendly. The style is easy to look at and fun! Without it the game would lose one's attention a lot quicker. and the music is quite enjoyable as well. Alltogether a fun experience. Will probably revisit every so often to try and improve my scores :)
This Jakarta developer found here https://twitter.com/ChocoartsGames likes to put two words together such as 'Almightree' and 'Plantsportation'. Which ironically is fitting for a game which also entwines a number of concepts together too. Its a 3D grid platformer decorated in an artstyle that respects the classic games such as Zelda, Bastion and Catherine. Granted the story doesn't really make a lot of sense. You 'the last dreamer' have to save the world in which you live and which is falling apart literally beneath your feet. Why is everything falling apart? I have no idea. In any case, you need to keep ahead of this quake that threatens your very existence and which has already killed all that you have known and loved. As the last man standing your given a vision that the almightree (some big badass tree) can save your world as long as you get to all of it's withering saplings (20 of them) and touch them in all the right places and bring them back to life, so that they can pull your world back together again. The sap that you are, you agree and branch off onto an adventure where you must traverse 20 levels which demand that you solve block moving problems while on the run. The gradual difficulty is well presented here, the first 5 levels literally lets you find your roots in the game, while the other later levels from 13 onwards will send you barking mad and will probably have you stumped at times. There are three difficulty levels easy, medium and hard and I would strongly suggest playing the game hard from onset. As only the toughest difficulty will unlock a further 40+ challenges which also demand your gaming expertise. These stem from levels needing to be done by a certain time requirement, levels needing to be completed with no damage taken, levels being completed with a certain amount of sunspheres collected, and finally levels being completed within the minimum block transportation moves possible. The puzzle mechanics gradually get harder and harder too, from simple bridging the gap to moving specific blocks so that your shielded from the effects of certain obstacles, such as shooting flowers or electric plants. One false move and you can find yourself in a very serious predicament as you start to feel the ground tremble beneath your feet and the musical score starts chanting that 'danger, danger, run, run, your going to die!' melody. Before you know it 'TIMBER!' and down you go. There's also multiplayer, but these are just the same 20 levels randomly being selected. It would have been a nice surprise if the multiplayer had a more random perk to it, by chopping up the levels that we have already played in the single player mode, and delivering them in a more splintering offshoot, with sections randomly jumbled up and maybe even mirrored. This way it would have been more exciting constantly thinking on your feet more, while being pitted against a worthy adversary online. I would also have loved the game more, if there was more levels and maybe a workshop where we could submit our own creations to enjoy. The game felt like it was just getting started when it suddenly came to an abrupt end. There's a slight teaser at the conclusion of the game that you might not be alone afterall, and a glimpse of an artistic style grid which looks like it could easily be a follow on with new enemies and puzzles needing to be solved, but alas the developer seems to be intent to follow other gaming ideas and seeds that he has in soil, instead of helping this game which seems to be maturing nicely to even be more fruitful than it has been. In a nutshell, for the price that it is, you really can't go wrong. It was a funallenge, excituzzle timewaster, look at that, I can put two words together too. Below is a sample its me playing through the first 5 levels. It should be enough of a sample to see if you would enjoy this game. https://youtu.be/oWALZ0jLXZI
one of the best puzzle platformers I have played the music, storyigameplay is amazing controls could hae done better but not everything is absoloutly perfect!
While the concept is good and the graphics are fair, controls and tedium in the puzzles are not endearing. Tapping a directional key turns without moving and is responsive, but the delay between holding a directional key and moving/climbing is probably 2x longer than it should be and feels unresponsive. The base mechanics are decent, but in a timed situation hazards whose only purpose is to stun and freeze the player in place are not fun, especially when the delay before moving/climbing can result in being chain stunned.
The Awesome Duo Curators [https://store.steampowered.com/curator/34564470-The-Awesome-Duo/] This was a surprisingly enjoyable game. It's a 3D block-pushing puzzle platformer. The world is falling apart, crumbling as the story would say, and you are trying to stop this by bringing Almightree saplings to life. It's a story that never really goes particularly far. At the end of the game I had no idea of why anything was really happening. It's not particularly difficult and should take you about 2 hours max to finish depending on how you do with games like this. It's a wholesome game, and I liked that.
Almightree: The Last Dreamer is a time-constrained puzzle platformer. On the one hand it've got some nice puzzles, on the other - it did not age well. I would reluctantly recommend it if it's not for rough unresponsive controls. They are awful and really ruin the game.
Game borrows from wide range of sources but the main game mechanics used to solve the puzzles works pretty good. It's not much to look at though. What I am personally bothered is the steam achievements section. I like having all achievements for the games I completed and dedicating 5-6 challenge to online play seems like a fucked up decision. First of all, no one is there, secondly this is not a multiplayer game perse. What gives?
Mostly casual puzzle game that does well enough. Although I can't speak much for how the multiplayer runs, the single player is a fun enough experience worth trying out. It is a 3D puzzle platformer that doesn't get super hard. There are better 3D puzzle platformers out there, but this one can be picked up for $0.49 on PROS + Fun and unique take on puzzle platformer + Fitting soundtrack + Bright and vibrant colors CONS -Lack of story -Lack of talking animation during voiced scenes (Just kind of bugs me) Worth the pickup while it's cheap. I wouldn't grab it at full price. I think the game offers 20 levels which for fifty cents isn't bad. Very interesting story and pretty fun puzzle game for a novice like myself. I play it on easy because while I like puzzles, I don't do well under time pressure. You manipulate blocks in an area to progress in a level, with the goal of getting to a tree before the ground collapses under you. As you progress in the levels, they keep introducing new mechanics; new blocks, new flowers. Very good stuff, only problem I have is the volume is not adjustable; you can either turn the sound/music on or off, nothing in between. I like to listen to youtube videos while I play games so that can be a bit of a problem. Nonetheless, this is definitely worth a purchase.
I picked the game up on sale. The trailer shows you what to expect for the most part, a simple, chill puzzle game. The music is particularly good and the graphics are colorful, along with a story and full voice-acting to make it more than just a points-based game. Simple up,down, left, right controls and some abilities to make the puzzles more immersive and challenging. I'm glad I picked it up.
Buy it on sale for 50 cents, and get a few hours of gameplay out of it. Not a bad game at all.
i love the art style and background but gameplay is terrible, not smooth, camera angle makes it difficult to see the puzzle sometimes and the biggest problem is its not fun and theres way too much discontinuation
This game is amazing...reminds me of Zelda with the colors, soundtrack, character, controls...but it has it's own identity as a unique puzzle game that challenges you big time. I don't know who made this game, but I want to give them a high five.
What is Almightree ? I wanted to like this one, it looks nice, the game also tries to do a different gameplay, not your usual spin on the formulaic gameplay loops that some indie titles adopts but sadly its simply not so fun, the gameplay offers no challenge, its just easy, boring and thoughtless, also its not done very well, with environments looking very copypasted and lacking diversity it makes the game hard to recommend.
A good casual puzzle game where you move on a grid and teletransport blocks around to create the way forward. This is not a game to play if you're looking for platforming action, it's a game to play if you're looking for simple puzzles. The art style is OK. There is just one song, which while not bad becomes boring over time. Controls could be tighter. Solving the puzzles does not lead to strong sense of satisfaction. It is by no means a must play game, but it is good enough that I can recommend it, especially when on sale.
i dont like it
GAME CATEGORIES Puzzle, Animated, Bright, Difficult, Brain Teaser, Story PARENT OBSERVATIONS This game is fine for kids This game has varying difficulty levels Almightree: The Last Dreamer was purchased for myself and my kids to play the co-operative local play modes. First Glance - this game looks like it will be fun when I get it configured properly. There is no settings menu pressing ESC, I didn't find it - I wanted to change the resolution and change the selected monitor but I didn't see a way within the UI to do so, I played it on the other monitor instead of my preferred. Local play looks like it will be a blast. If you like a challenge, go for it.
Disclaimer: i've just played this game only for 10 level, so it might be some misunderstood in this review. Overall it's a good game. I think it is worth more than $3 (price when i bought this game). this game reminds me of bastion (but still very different). It is come with original idea of puzzle game. the quality of graphic is good. sounds is good too. pros + simple and easy to learn + good graphic + good sound + good idea of puzzle game cons - need more storyline in every new level at first this game looks like it will provide a good story, but after 10 level, i dont find the continuation of its story (or im not far enaugh to see more storyline ?) - too easy ? I chose the hard mode, but I find it too easy to complete the first 10 levels of the game (I do not know how many levels contained in this game) - or, developers did make on purpose that 10 first level is to be solved easily :P conclusion: if you are looking for casual puzzle game with nice atmosphere and also good graphic and sound, buy this game.
We are dreamers
Honestly this is a fantastic value, bought the game at $0.49 but I'd buy it at $5.00 and I'll explain why. I heard about this game from a niche gamer friend of mine that said this is a nice simple pick up and play puzzle game. I took her word for it and tried it out. I think the art really stands out here, the color pallet, and the graphics options here are very good for a $5.00 game. Each level has a great pace, never felt too short or too long. I like being a dreamer, I can physically move pieces of the world around. All you know about your character is you are the last dreamer, the world is falling apart (literally) and you have to prevent that from happening. There is a little more detail about the story but I don't want to give spoilers. Not enough story for my taste but it I feel it is good enough for the type of game it is. This is defiantly a must play indie game.
