I absolutely loved this game. I enjoyed the slow finding out of the story and
the graphics are magnificent. I would have preferred more save spots as it is
tedious when you have to go over the same ground again but this was not a big
deal. This is definitely a game I will play again.

I see some potential here, but it's completely unplayable in the current state:
- sound doesn't work for some players unless you connect external speakers
- insanely low FPS (I have a RTX 3070)
- slowest movement I've ever seen in a game, running does absolutely nothing,
and you have to walk fairly long distances to find more points of interest
- no manual save

I loved the visuals and the serene feel of the game. Usually, games with a
dark-ish storyline aren't so calming but this is a super chill game if a bit
frustrating in a few parts when you're trying to figure out what comes next.
Overall I really enjoyed it and am glad I made the purchase.

How did I not review this game? That is weird. I really enjoyed it back then,
amazing atmosphere and soundtrack. Not for you if you don't like exploring at a
slow pace / read stuff around / listen to things. Played it several years ago.

The story & music were winners here, but there's much better walking sims out
there to buy. Pairing this up with an absolute CRAWL of a walk animation makes
this trudge a very slow one.
The story has its own brand of slow and creeping existential horror, so If
you're into cosmic horror, give it a shot.
Fun enough for one run, fun for some screenshots but I won't be calling this one
a "classic" of the genre. The music is REALLY good though.

Have an RTX 4080 but the game's FPS is so low it's unplayable. Tried multiple
proposed fixes with no success. The devs clearly abandoned this game once it was
done and released and never bothered to fix it. Now, I fear for "Vampire: The
Masquerade – Bloodlines 2" since the same studio is behind it.

I really want to like that game as it does so many things right.
The voice acting is great, the graphics are beautiful, its very atmospheric and
the story is catchy.
But on the other hand the game runs poorly even on modern machines, that playing
this game becomes frustrating. What´s also frustrating is its often mentioned
movement speed. Its so slow and the world to explore so big, it becomes really
annoying after some time. In addition, if you want to explore every piece of the
world (and dont want to miss something) its difficult to not get lost, as there
are so many paths to follow but you dont know where to go first and if you will
get there sooner or later.
If it would be optimized better and wouldnt have these design flaws, it would be
a great game.

This game is truly a treasure and I still feel some messages of it resonating in
my soul. Walking through memories, through places where the everyday lives of
the residents unfold before our eyes. Falling in and out of love, affairs,
family disputes, who wants to date whom, who should stay away from whom. Here:
we've entered the game. Meanwhile, there are sentences woven in with depths
worth capturing in a photo and saving for rainy days when we can look out the
window and ponder what life really means to us.
The story begins mysteriously. We don't know much about what happened. We get
some guidance on understanding what is happening to the residents, but most of
it can only be pieced together if we play through to the end.
The game is divided into chapters and each chapter shows the story of a
different character, often ending with catharsis. Every character is different,
and you just can’t wait to see who the next will be, whose soul you will see,
whose story will touch your heart (or break it) next.
This is not a cheerful game, rather it’s incredibly moving and profoundly sad.
If you find the beauty in that, it is your game. As the title suggests,
everybody’s gone to the rapture and we piece together what happened from the
memories and audio recordings left behind.
The basic gameplay is a walking simulator, so the gaming experience largely
consists of walking around, following a beam of light, and listening to the
events. We can interact with some elements, but these are mostly toys, doors,
and playground elements. There are no puzzles to solve, our task is simply to
experience the world around us and put together the story.
For me, the game's greatest advantages were:
- Jessica Curry's music, especially the parts with a chorus are incredibly
touching and stay with the player long after. It is transcendental. I would play
through it again and again just for the music.
- The dialogues feel real, making it easy to immerse oneself in the story
- The graphics are high-quality, and I often stopped to take a screenshot of the
haunting, lonely landscape.
- The storytelling has a poetic way, very deep meanings, and a really good
narration with the voice actors. They truly excelled.
Possible drawbacks:
- Even for a walking simulator, progress can be quite slow, although there is a
fast walk option but it's not always usable. So, patience is needed. Also, if
someone wants to complete all the achievements, one playthrough is not enough.
- For me, it was quite hard to start the memories with mouse in the beginning.
This could have been made simpler. Essentially, you have to drag the light
sphere horizontally back and forth until you find the point where it's the
smallest.
- You are all alone, and the story can be quite dark, even the scenes darken
sometimes, so it may give off some moderate horror vibes. But there is nothing
in the gameplay that can hurt you.
All in all I wholeheartedly recommend it and I want to end the review with the
most beautiful piece of quote I have ever seen in a game so far (spoiler!):
We are born apart, driftwood on the banks of an endless dark ocean, and we will
be carried away by the swell soon enough. But in between, in the single day of
living, that dancing in a strip of sunlight, we can find what we miss, the love
that makes us whole, the immanence.

Visually stunning, but I really can't recommend this. The controls are
frustrating as you're forced to very slowly walk around following a light that
swoops all off in different directions. The story is confusing and really feels
too arty for it's own sake and the conclusion is really not very satisfying. Bit
of a shame, it could have been better.

Working my way through it.
Okay Spoiler as far as theme. Its a central part of the story, but I offer this
as a caveat.
Ready?
Okay...
Right off. Post Covid if you think this might hit too close or be "too soon" to
play a game involving those themesI would suggest you might want to take a wait
on this. This game was made pre-covid I believe, but BOY it hits different post
covid. Almost-no almost-unsettlingly so. Themes of Quarantine, govt information
(or lack of some might say), all that...its here and it hits.
The game itself is a walking sim/interactive novel-pretty much walking around
and clicking on things to stir up memories (very similar to Vanishing of Ethan
Carter, but without the puzzles). Its a big area to walk around and explore-note
you walk VERY slow, and theres a button to move....not quite as slow. But no
jogging/running/jumping here.
Essentially game play is....walk, seeing glowing thing "tune it" (a note, the
tutorial doesnt really explain well, but if on controller you pull a trigger and
"tune" with the stick left and right to get the right "frequency" to make a big
story moment happen.
Enjoying it, but the themes post covid-yea caught me off guard.

Cryptic NONSENSE left open to a ton of speculation/interpretation and guessing
what actually happened. You spend all this time hearing stories of people but
it's ALL loose ends. The culmination/wrapping up of the story is just a mess of
nonsense. Gorgeous game that modern hardware struggles to run - amazing music
and scenery - but the story line falls F L A T at the end...

First off, it's a walking simulator. And yes, your character is very slow. So
don't expect a high-speed Doom type of gameplay. This game is 100% about story
but that's what makes it great.
I played this when I built my first gaming PC because I wanted to see it with
some proper hardware. It was worth putting off on PS4. Looking "like real life"
can honestly be boring. This game is not super realistic but beauty comes in
different ways. This game is proof of that. What really got me was the story.
The game is a semi-free roam but it still guides you along with visual cues. The
music is beautiful. Well deserving of its BAFTA win along with audio design, and
Merle Dandridge's win for performance
