Combat is brutal. I feel worried all the time and unconfident even when I have
the upper hand because I have so much to lose and have so high hopes for my
mercenaries

Scratches that unit builder itch I've been searching for since I played XCOM

Played this game on and off for a while now. Amazing game to play if you don't
mind restarting a lot and never getting to experience end game. It's difficult
to keep your people very long, unless you're trying your hardest. Since I play
casually because I love turn based strategy like this, I tend to lose a LOT. I
still find it an enjoyable experience. The simplistic design still looks great,
and personally I like the way it shows gore. Having brutal, bloody, battles
against orcs who scare you every turn by the thought of them chopping off your
men's head with one swing of their over-sized cleavers, or having their heads
smashed in by a barbarian with a giant mace with a skull on the end of it, I
just really enjoy it. When you win, you feel accomplished, because the game does
not hold your hand. I always play Ironman, unexplored map, and normal resources,
gold, etc. I've replayed this game probably a hundred times at least by now.
They have a great variety of starting scenarios, so that every start doesn't
feel the same. That combined with the different areas of the map having
different types of enemies, quests, events, and terrain and the game always
feels pretty fresh for me.

My favorite stress-relief game. Deceptively simple, it seems like just a hack
and slash fest. But there are hidden depths and it is sprinkled throughout with
humor. The sound of goblins dying and running in terror is sweet music to my
ears!

One of the most interesting, creative and well put together indie titles of all
times. The graphics, while simple are excellent and paired with the fantastic
audio it paints a visceral image of violence and grit no other title can match.

Great, addictive game. The squad building & optimizing aspect are incredibly
fun. Loads of replayability

I have spent more time watching YouTube videos learning how to git gud rather
than playing this game. 10/10

I love this game but its fucking horseshit RNG makes it hard to play at this
point. The AI is so bland and RNG is so heavily skewed in its favor that the
best players (which I don't count myself as one of) ultimately resort to cheese
in order to make this game playable passed the 40 hour mark. I am so sick of
having runs wiped to RNG. Battles lost completely off of a level 11 brother
missing 3 back to back 95% rolls. Its infuriating. But still a great game.
Recommend.

Ok, this is literally one of the best games Ive played in my life! Replayability
is phenomenal, and mods like legends add sooooooo much more to this game.
Overall I highly recommend this game :)

This is one of my favorite games. I dreamt about a game like this for a long
time, and now it's finally a reality!

There is a lot of complexity which keeps bringing me back, but new players will
have to learn whats going on. Little tricks like: buy dogs at level 1 so bandits
are easier to fight and you wont lose humans who gain levels; trade goods for
profit, weapons are situational (like using flails for head-strikes prevents
that valuable body armor from getting destroyed which means now you can
loot/repair it)
Played with Legends mods for more sprites, layered armor, camping, towns
upgrading or being destroyed, and other neat additions to the experience.
Looking forward to their new game which I hope is the same formula, just with
shooty shooty instead.

why is there no workshop support? there's so many mods, but yet no support for
such a great game, makes no sense
only posting negative because this needs to be changed

So, I'm a fan of the game, however, I would really REALLY love to be able to
play as a band of Goblins. I would love to have my own hidden clan camp that I
can upgrade, outfit, house troops, keep slaves, and keep riches. I'd like to be
able to play all sides of the spectrum of good, evil, and indifferent.
to be able to jump from one merc company to another or to have enough reserve
troops to immediately get out there and get after it would be swell! You could
set up a group build, set what they are meant to do, and dictate when they
should retreat to the base to lick their wounds and bury their dead so they are
actively participating and leveling up to make the horde/merc company stronger.
I'd like to be part of the problem or maybe i'll be a mixture of both the
problem and the solution.
An Orc horde brings goblin swarms and I use my goblins to battle the other
goblins and orcs for slaves, loot, gear, and supplies.
That would be fantastic.
I'd love to see new cities get established and to see the destruction of old
cities that create ruins infested with spiders that i can capture and tame or
undead to clear out.
I really feel like the game has a solid spot but it could be soooo very much
more than what it is.
I'd happily find mods for this exact thing but i have had no luck no matter
where i look.
but, with all that dreaming i cannot toss shade on the creators. they made the
game that they wanted.
if there's another game out there that allows me to play the type of game i'm
dreaming of i'd really REALLY appreciate anyone's help on that front.

It's fun, sandboxy kind of like Mount and Blade but with tactical hexagonal
combat done in turn by turn style.
shame that there are no recruitable female mercenaries, not even a witch,
despite...

Basically a rogue like turn based tactical combat game with minor RPG elements.
Great if you are more interested in combat than the story which is definitely
the case for me.

Great game with lots of still untapped potential and great soundtrack as well.
A little bit bummed that there is low chance of additional content coming.

Start company. Die. New company. Die. Repeat until don't die. Game good.
