These new levels are really challenging. Made me think a little more that's a good thing ;) it's more rewarding when you figure it out.
PLEASE REFER TO MY MSF: HD REVIEW FOR A REVIEW ON THIS GAME IP http://steamcommunity.com/id/garketmardener/recommended/366970/ On a technical level this game is OK and all, but i was a bit disappointed. Mostly because it involves no new OST and the jokes got out of hand. Mechanics are still cool. Game's a bit glitchy and runs slower than the other one on Steam, but yeah, still OK. For those who don't have the patience to go to my other review; it's just a simple but fun platformer puzzle with simple storyline and great soundtrack.
MSF Academy really does feel like the other Switch Force games. It's very fun and can make you use your brain, but there are a few things that I feel need to be added or changed. -The levels are fun and can be done very easily, but that's almost a problem. I'm sure there are more levels on the way, but right now, everything was very simple. Maybe some more challenging levels could be added or the design of some of other ones can be changed around a bit, just for a bit more of a challege. -There needs to be some kind of a payoff. The other Switch Force games give a reward of some sort for completing the levels. Whether it be a costume or extra levels, there needs to be something. I don't know how anyone else feels about it, but I always feel like I've successfully completed a game when I get something out of it. -Multiplayer! The multiplayer system is a good idea. I believe that WayForward should expland on that. But if there's a multiplayer, there needs to be a drawback on the par system. It will have to depend on how many people are present. If there are two people, they will have 45 seconds to complete the map, instead of 1 minute. If there are three people they will have 30 seconds and so on. -Aaaand, for fun, maybe a concept art mode or gallery. Certain conditions have to be met to get this picture or certain conditions have to be met to get the concept art. You know, that kind of thing. It's not important, it just may add some more to the game. Give players something extra to do and really strive to complete every level without going over par. All and all, this is a good game. Even though it's still in progress, I still had fun with it. I recommend this game to those who love the Switch Force series. For those who don't really know of the games, this could be a good way to introduce possible new players. It's not too difficult and other reviews could really add to this game. Very nice job!
So good. Not able to try the multiplayer (online would have been nice), but as an avid fan of the first two Mighty Switch Force games I can say this is a great single player campaign worthy of the title of MSF 3. The wrapping around screen adds a layer of depth that freshens the format just like the fire hose did in 2. Top notch level design that we've come to expect from Wayforward, along with another KILLER soundtrack.
I like very much Mighty Switch Force! games and i like the idea for multiplayer levels, but for a multiplayer we need to play online with friends or solo with an AI (artificial intelligence), but the game is very good for me. If the game will be an multiplayer option IA or online for make the game better the game need: 1) Multiplayer deathmatch. 2) Coop for defeat big bosses just like the end of Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition. 3) Work together on puzzles. 4) Customize the keyboard without key restriction. 5) More levels.
As much as I adore WayForward and everything they make, this game really isn't very good. The game is a unique idea, 4 player Mighty Switch Force, but absolutely nothing was done to make that work well other than zooming out the screen, which has its own problems. I have absolutely no idea how anyone is able to play this game with four players, everyone playing must be in perfect sync with each other, or there's no way the level's getting done. The game feels cheap too, which feels very odd for a WayForward property. The game is a mixture of reused pixel art (which still looks great), and generic VR styled levels that don't match the pixel art at all. The zoomed out screen makes it hard to appreciate the good sprites too, since they're so small. The new sprites for this game don't even look that great either. I'm really sad to say it, but this game isn't worth the price. Everything good about it can be found in the other Mighty Switch Force games. The main appeal of this game is the multiplayer, which does not work like the fun party game it advertises itself as. This whole game feels like a cheap product meant to monopolize on the series' reputation, and I'm sorry to say I fell for it myself.
Had potential but they never really did much with this game. During early access they promised to take user feedback and add more levels but that didn't quite happen. Mighty Switch Force! Collection [https://store.steampowered.com/app/832320/Mighty_Switch_Force_Collection/] on Steam includes this game, plus the first two (and the first game's HD remaster) for only $20, and is a significantly better package than buying this standalone.
This is very good for an Early Acess game. It doesn't have much content as the original M.S.F series as of now, but more is soon to come, It's worth it.
HUGE Mighty switch force! fan here! when i got this game...the game didn't boot up correctly, had to figure out thanks to a certain person on steam, wayforward really needs to update this game and fix it so people never get this issue again, that's the only problem with this game, what i do love are: the music (even though its the same music from mighty switch force! 1 and 2, there is one new song though in this game lol), graphics dont matter in gaming..but i do like the graphics anyways, Brand new stages i really love, more hooligan sisters i get to recapture instead of 5 per level all the time, stages are really challenging, and i mean REALLY CHALLENGING!!! love that also, and of course love patricia wagon so much! and definately i love new dialogue for patricia wagon in this game, she says new stuff i never heard off in this game, thats so awesome, my personal rating of this game is 9/10 :)
There are a lot of things wrong with this game, and it's to be expected seeing as it is still not totally developed. But there are a lot of things that really angered me, that I hope can be fixed in the final version. First off, the controls. Please let us use the control stick we move with to select items during the pause menu. And please please PLEEEEEASE allow us to customize the Switch Force buttons. I'm so used to using the Right Trigger as a means of using this function, but the fact that it's on the B-Button now is super disorienting and weird. And PLEASE ADD WINDOW MODE!!!! Now, if it were me, it would be nice to have new music, but I honestly understand why this game doesn't. This game is like another spin-off title to the Mighty Switch Force! series, like Hose it Down. Also, would be really nice if you used the Mighty Switch Force HD sprites for Patty. It'd stand out more and look better overall. Also, the multiplayer characters should actually change the light-blue on her outfit to Red, Green, etc. Otherwise, it's a very Mighty Switch Force-y game. And that's good! The price, however, is not good! Especially for the game being not totally done. I just really hope that I don't have to spend another chunk of my cash after spending this one. So, in this regard, I cannot recommend this game. It's unfinished and it really shows. Especially for the price. If Wayforward fixes the things that I believe they will, than I will definetley upvote this game when the full version releases.
An excellent game for those who enjoy puzzle platformers, and overall refreshing to the Mighty Switch Force series thus far, with it probably my favourite of the series (from a single player perspective, have yet to play the multiplayer).
I'd recommend it on sale for the general populace, it's a little too short for a $10 (it's about 3-5 hours based on how well you do), but if you're a MSF fan I'd say it's a somewhat OK price as-is, maybe pushing the upper limit. The game revolves around "flipping" objects into the level on demand, some of which you have to platform on and even time them as you launch yourself/enemies over spike pits with cannons where a single missed switch will cost you a heart/retry. Co-op is a nightmare, you ALL control the same plane of blocks, meaning if you swap blocks you'll likely drop someone into spikes or flat out knock them into your computer screen. If ANYONE dies, it's back to the start! The only way to beat most levels safely in co-op is to take turns platforming and reaching the goal. But co-op DOES allow for some interesting speed-running strats! If, say, P1 stand on a certain spot, let's P2 grab the prisoner, the level will jump to the next section, and if timed right, P1 will land on the next prisoner, skipping an entire section near instantly. Outside of co-op, the closet online interaction you'll get is leaderboards. You simply compete for the best time. That's it. The sprites are well crafted. They're very lively and well animated. Overall, it's a cute, quick, moderately easy game to play. A good waste of 3ish hours with your couch buddy if you "just beat it".
Probably a good game on its own, but having played both MSF 1 and 2, I can't help but compare it to those two games, both of which are far superior. Just get MSF HD instead.
Of course, it's a Wayforward game... so it can't be anything but excellent ! Fans of Mighty Switch series should be pleased to see a new title, and for the others, I'd warmly recommend to try it ;) And as in every Wayforward game, characters are so cute ^^ ♥
A beautifully crafted single-player puzzle game by the folks at Wayforward behind games like Shantae, Double Dragon Neon, Contra 4, and Ducktales Remastered! With Jake Kaufman on the music once again your ears will be blessed by bouncy beats as you partake in some passionate puzzles! Good price tag (even at launch) and fun gameplay that'll have you switching up your noggin' as you try and solve them.
A neat attempt to revitalize the foundation you've already made. Though it's at most a tech demo, the old arcade style in through one side out the opposite made for some interesting takes on old mechanics. One of the levels even introduced mechanics not seen in any previous game, from collecting more than 5 prisoners, to teleporters, to carrying momentum through teleports. It shows me that they still have new ideas to keep the game fresh. The last 5 levels were from Mighty Switch Force 1, and I had slowdown issues with it. Maybe because it's all in one screen with all the background stuff going on. I didn't get the chance to play local co-op, and there is no online co-op. As much as I want to recommend this, I can't. It's way to early, and it needs more content. Hopefully WayForward can add more to this idea and keep the ball running, maybe even make it easy for fan mod support.
A must have for Mighty Switch Force fans. The multiplayer aspect adds a whole new layer of strategy and changes how you approach the different levels. Definitely give it a try. :D
I highly recommend this game. Pros: +It's mighty switch force, it's challenging and fun +Patricia Wagon is best girl +Iggy from jojo's bizzare adventure +Full view of the stage (really easy for me to figure everything out +only 10 bucks Cons: -Glitchy (being a Early Access game, you would expect this)
Awesome to play and just jump into if you've already played the other titles. I would highly reccommend this to anyone who would love to see how this project prospers. I personallly can't wait for the online multiplayer, if only to see how it works. Thumbs up from me!! Get out there and... "Switch it up"!
Edit: if you've never played one of these games before Buy the collection! It gives you all the games and is better value for money A mighty attempt at keeping the series fresh, suffering from a lack of pc optimisation and testing. The 360 pad support is there, but everything else looks like it needs more work done with it. In a game about puzzles fused with speedrunning you're thinking 4 player would be an amazing idea! But then you remember it's incredibly easy to troll each other, which will happen 100 times more often than the military like precision needed to make full use of co-op speedrunning. There's a vs mode I haven't tested, but I imagine it has a lot to do with the aformentioned trolling. Only get this if you REALLY love the series, love the character, have local friends who are more likely to work together than troll and/or it's on sale
