Game Description
Coins make you explode? Spikes make you bounce!
All of this is normal in the world of Default Dan, a new indie platformer that flips the genre upside-down! Everything in the game does the opposite of what it appears. By using your own instincts against you, Default Dan aims to provide a humorous, mind-bending experience that anyone can enjoy.
In this world, looks can be deceiving. Dan’s dimwitted best friend has been abducted by a mean-spirited little princess. In order to rescue his friend, Dan must defeat the princess and her army of cute minions.
Everything is backwards: Coins, power-ups and hearts are deadly, while hazards and enemies help you out. It might sound simple, but you will have to retrain your brain and think backwards to survive!
Over 20 stages of pure mayhem await across 4 different environments - new mechanics are introduced along the way to keep you on your toes.
Compete with others for the fastest time. Every stage in Default Dan supports time-ranked leaderboards.
Collect all 27 Steam Achievements by completing unique feats throughout the game!
Original Sound Track by "brentalfloss": Brent "brentalfloss" Black lends his musical talents to the game!

This game is made to tick off your friends as it takes "regular" game logic and
throws it out the window.
-play it with a friend or watch a friend play it,

Fun music. Tight controls. A complete mind F&ck for all platform players out
there. I would definitely recommend this game to everyone out there!

A superb ironic platforming game. The presentation is fun and imaginative, self
original even as it's clear who it's parodying. I recommend it.

One of those hidden gems which will never get any notice, one of the most
creative and iconic plattformers for me.

Disclaimer: Still very early in the game.
This is a very polished platformer where everything you THINK you know about
platformers is wrong. Jump on those spikes. It's good for you. lol Pretty tough
but never punishing.

This game is super hard, it pokes at every last old school Mario gaming habbit
and punishes you for them. That being said it's alot of fun and i recommend it.

I'm really loving this game so far. The 'backwards' concept is new and
refreshing. The graphics are great and I am a sucker for any game with
leaderboards as I LOVE to compete. The $5.99 price tag is perfect.

This game is unfortunately the equivalent of a Family Guy joke in which it's
funny the first 5 minutes then you realize that's the whole game. Dumb kid me
thought this game was amazing because Smosh played it, but in retrospect, it's
not that good. I appreciate the fact that the game is only 20 levels long, and
the first half is the actual game with the second half being the NG+ "dark"
world, but that doesn't really excuse the fact that some of the challenges are
bs, especially in the later half of the game (even if it is bonus, it's still an
aspect of the game that has to be taken into account because it exists). What
makes matters worse are the controls which are imprecise and slippery, and kinda
make it harder to enjoy a game about difficult precision when you can't be
precise. There were a few things I liked such as Brentalfloss' music and the
simple but neat story (which had a funny joke with the Monster at the end), but
it feels that the game overstays its welcome, especially if you want to do all
the bonus things like times and achievements. On the topic of that, trying for
100% is absolute torture and just soul crushing, don't try it. It has probably
made me biased, but the fact that it was an experience in a game in the first
place has left me bitter. Buy it if your curious, but there's honestly much
better funny hard games out there.

I was pretty interested in the idea of this game being essentially Mario but in
reverse, and while I think it should try and stand out from those games a bit
more, I do think it has pretty high replay value and solid enough ideas to
bypass some more poor graphics and short gameplay.

Very fun, but frustrating game.
Default Dan really makes you focus on the exact opposite of what all of us know
about video games and have known for a very long time. The fact that I kept
messing up and hitting coins over and over again is an example of just how much
this thing messes with your mind.
Again, great game! But just keep in mind - EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG!

This game is known as being another one of those "joke" games that you see
YouTubers playing just for laughs (and there is some entertainment in that
regard when you show it to friends and family) but this also really is a fun and
challenging game. I think the $6 price tag is reasonable in and of itself, but
if it's on sale for a dollar and some pocket change again, I'd highly recommend
buying this game if you're into platforms. On a side note, I found the levels to
be designed more like a Mario Maker level than and actual Mario game. I
understand that yes, the game is designed so that everything seems good is bad
and everything that seems bad is good, but I guess what I'm saying is that the
level design lacks a certain "polish" that I can't quite explain in words. It's
still a fun game nonetheless!

A very short and simple platformer that certainly takes a bit of time to get
used to if you've been playing Super Mario Bros for long enough. Once you're
used to the subversion of the tropes, the game still pits its difficulty against
you through its devious level design. Those who wish to complete it 100% have
their work cut out for them, but if you're a fan of the Mario franchise and
enjoy a little bit of Super Meat Boy-style difficulty on the side, then this
game is for you.
There's a little bit of jank with the game sometimes, mainly being that Dan can
get stuck in a wall momentarily if you're hugging it while falling, and while I
could use it to my advantage occasionally, it's largely a hindrance, so keep
that in mind. Also I'm not too sure on how the fire flower works in this game as
sometimes I blow up even though I'm sure I'm moving all the time, it could do
with Dan not having a significant enough change in his x and y position in the
level. Essentially I don't think dash-dancing will count as moving if you're
using the fire flower. Despite this occasional jank I have no problem
recommending this game.

The game is decent. The dark world fucking sucks. Don't bother with the dark
world.

Like Super Mario Bros had a baby with Super Meat Boy, and the baby was raised by
an abusive uncle who only spoke backwards.
