bad game
cooles game
Visually incredible. Has a lot of bizzare stuff in it and the style is fire. Worth playing for that alone. The bad news is that there are a lot of bad jigsaw puzzles where you have to fish for puzzle pieces from (and place them back into) a soup of other puzzle pieces. It's a mess. There is a skip button but I'm stupid so I didn't use it. First time playthrough: 4 hours 6 minutes 6/10
It's ok, I'm enjoying it because the story is crazy and amusing. There are a bunch of rooms to unlock by doing HOGs and jigsaw puzzles, each room contains more HOGs and jigsaw puzzles which give you items needed to 'solve' rooms. It's all pretty easy. Borderline recommend at a sale price $4 or less. I did hit one bug which forced me to reload and skip the puzzle (sliding rows and columns pic of a guy with a gas mask on).
A nice sequel to its predecessor, Time Lies offers a more tied up story with a more intense atmosphere and vivid special effects. The game is more mature than the previous one, it contains no obscenity but has more impressive imagery and evokes quite bloody situation so it is not adequate for a younger audience. On the gameplay side, the puzzles are nice but a bit repetitive although increasing in difficulty. Altogether a good game for your library.
Its a very unique and interesting old hidden object game from 2008. Loved the visuals, loved the concept, and enjoyed some aspects of it. It was repetitive, especially with the jigsaw puzzles, I really wish there were more hidden object games in this, but other than that a very creepy and beautiful game that reminds me a bit of American McGee's Alice combined with a very 2000s dark internet fairy tale style.
This was mostly fun, but the lack of variety in the puzzles made the game tedious towards the end. I prefer HO games with a variety of puzzle types, and actually ended up skipping the last few jigsaw puzzles. I liked the hint system where you collect magnifying glasses in the different scenes to get more hints available. Not that you need much of them in a game as easy as this, but they are useful in the HO scenes when you just cannot find the last item. The story is very typical for these games, with a mad scientist who must be stopped, but who buys HO games for the story anyway? I paid €1.54 for this as a bundle deal (had the previous game) and it's worth that as it gives you one night of gameplay.
someone has already said this, but from an artist's perspective this game is cool as FUCK
I estimate at least 1.5hr, if not more, of my 2hr 43 min playthrough were those BLOODY PUZZLES!!! Literally the last 30 minutes were big jigsaw/slide the bar to form the image/move the tiles puzzles...and that's with me waiting out the skip puzzle button for the last 2 of them. Having one in between HOS' was one thing but having the ending of the game be more than half hour of JUST puzzles is bull! Also it was trying too hard to be scary and fell short of the mark. Also, why was Rose locked up with the criminally insane in the first place? She was like 5-6 y.o in the first game, what the hell were her parents thinking?!
I actually like this one. Its a HOG with a bit extra. Not the usual fair. Has actual puzzles. With puzzle pieces. A few varieties even. Its a sequel and looks like there will be another one following according to the story anyway. ends on bit of a cliff hanger. Interesting visuals. Only had to use the hint system once. If you liked the first one you'll like this. If you havn't played the first one then you'll be lost with the plot. If that doesnt matter to you then you should at least have fun with the game. My only real beef is that for the puzzles sometimes it feels like you have to brute force them. You don't get a good look at what they are supposed to be and theres no reference really when doing them. Still fun though. If you like HOGs you'll like this.
TL;DR: It's dark, it's cheesy, it's flawed, but it's fun. Get it on sale! Happy to report that unlike its predecessor, Dead Diary, the Steam version of this game is not only just as good as the version on Big Fish Games, but it's actually better! I didn't notice any additional content, but it was far less laggy and thus far has not had a single crash, which is more than I can say for the BFG copy. The story takes place an unknown amount of time after the events of the previous game. Dr Fraud has been released from his institution and is setting about his dark deeds once more. You, as Detective Ravenwood and his psychic niece Rose, must put a stop to Dr Fraud and free the patients suffering under his "care." Delve into each patient's nightmares one-by-one and solve the puzzles within to release their souls from captivity. I can't claim to have played many HOGs, since they've never been my favorite genre, but both this game and the previous entry are by far the darkest I've ever played, which is exactly why I loved them as a kid and love them now. The world that exists in these games is somehow even sicker than the real one, with murders/mutilations that would be gruesome enough to warrant major news attention in our reality being reported on by just the local papers in-game, since they're apparently super commonplace even in just this one town alone. Don't get me wrong though: the writing in these games is not stellar at all, (I mean, the main villain's name is literally Dr. Sigmund Fraud, and the way they write Rose's dialogue vs. the way they designed her physically gives us a major age discrepancy) but I also feel like they're well aware that they're cheesy and revel in it, going over-the-top and making the darkness fun in an almost Addams Family-esque sort of way. It almost feels like playing a bad horror movie, but in the best way. This game does feature some beautifully grotesque artwork that improves on the previous game's graphics, but sometimes it can also be a bit of a mess visually. (I would have to go through each screen individually to be more specific than that, sorry.) I also have to commend the soundtrack; while I suspect that at least some of the music is stock, each track was well-selected and well-used and really helped to build up the game's atmosphere. It's pretty much the same handful of puzzles repeated to varying degrees of difficulty throughout the entire game, and for the most part they're okay. I know that the repetition of this has bothered some players, but HOGs have always been repetitive to me, so I appreciate that they were trying to offer at least a little variety. I definitely liked some puzzles better than others, however. In particular, I believe that the jigsaw puzzles were quite poorly handled since there isn't really enough space on the "board" to work with, limiting visbility and causing unnecessary frustration. Overall, a game that is very flawed, but nevertheless very fun. Would definitely recommend, especially if it's on sale!
Absolutely loved this one. Not your typical HOG. It gave clues and you had to find the item in another scene. May picture puzzles each getting harder. So if you don't like picture puzzles don't gt this one. Surprise ending.
Cartoonish, with a lot of words. Not an atmospheric/scenic HOG at all. More like a moving comic book with creepy music. Not represented accurately by the pictures in game description. Nothing like other Redrum and not even fullscreen.

though a relatively short play through, it does have some decent puzzles/h.o. to it. but that shortness and the ending make it feel a bit abrupt and incomplete. i would like to see this built into a series otherwise... eyah, kind of short for a "full" game. a prequal or a opener, okay. but not as a stand alone. but hey, if you catch it on sale &/or they Do expand on it, buy it. it's a bit twisted and dark but it's still worth a look.
Speaking as an artist myself I can only say that the graphics are superb and second to none. The Hidden Object section are the most unusual and intriguing I have ever come across. You really need to be on your toes for this one.
It´s kinda like roblox
