Pinball wizard is a roguelite pinball hybrid, with the objective being to kill
monsters on each floor and progress through a tower, however the game fails to
deliver on many aspects and for those who were considering giving this a try, i
highly suggest you skip this one.
The gameplay is my main gripe, the game is simple, it gives you 2 paddles to hit
your wizard around and bump into enemies which you kill to get keys and move to
the next floor, once you die you can get upgrades and powerups to push further
through the game, however this entire concept is flawed by 1 major problem, once
you're off of the paddles you can't really counter enemies, it does give you 2
powerups to which you can use with some cooldowns to dash and hit enemies with,
but it does little to actually stop you bouncing around after that, and infact i
managed to die in under a single second by getting bounced off of enemies which
when angry, damage you too as well as them when you hit them, the game really
needed a parry or some sort of control for the player to utilize to prevent
being stuck and left for dead as they helplessly crash into things and die, the
levelling and roguelite elements aren't much better either as they mostly don't
amount to much and are largely insignificant to counter the major problem i just
mentioned, the variety is lacking with every floor looking the same, only 3
enemy variants with the slimes being spammed despite being the biggest BS in the
game, and a boss which felt very basic and lacked creativity and generally
speaking the game lacked a lot of spark to it as a whole, in such that i managed
to complete the entire thing in just 1hr 7 minutes on my very first playthrough
completely blind, so its very short to say the least and i expected much more
for a concept that could've been a huge hit.
Graphics wise is the part i give my thumbs up, the enemies are cutesy looking
and everything has a nice look to it, its clean its slick and it works for what
it aims to do, doesn't suffer from any lag and looks nice at the same time, so i
can't fault the graphics at all.
The music and sound effects are standard, i didn't feel they stood out nor
detracted, however the audio is bugged and even if you mute everything any SFX
in cutscenes still plays which i found out when i nearly got my eardrums blasted
out when i was trying to listen to some irl >:T
Overall it had some things going for it, but ultimately i think the game needed
a lot of polish to make it up to standard, there's plenty of other roguelites
out there, and i think a great comparison is hades, how it does give you a sense
of progression while giving you powerups, a nice fine balance of skill and aid
from the game, here its entirely grind or just luck to win stages, the powerups
are far too insufficient to handle things, and such it lead to the game falling
short for me.

Works well on deck. You will need to grind a bit to unlock some skills that will
help you survive some levels. I really only had an issue with 2 or 3, which were
solved after leveling up a bit. It's partially skill, partially luck. Sometimes
I would find the key early and get out of there fast, other times it took a few
tries to even find the key.
There is a tower mode, which you can start from any floor you've unlocked.
Daily mode, which has a leaderboard.
Dungeon, which I actually didn't try at all so I can't comment.
There are a dozen skills, each having a few levels to upgrade. These range from
adding a barrier at the start, to an orb attack, to gaining experience faster.
Music is alright, nothing memorable but fitting to the game itself.
5 achievements, all work. Tutorial, leveling up a skill, killing two specific
type of enemies, and finishing the game.
I bought it on sale, and so the price was particularly good. Overall, if you
think you'd go back for daily modes and whatnot paying more for it might be
good.
